Hi all,

There is a patch in this link for the WW1 sim 'First Eagles'. The patch greatly improves the playability of the sim but in my opinion is light years behind IL2.

'First Eagles' was totally unplayable to me but this patch has made it far better.

Amazing to consider that the IL2 engine is almost 10 years old but is still the best available http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

But, if WW1 aerial combat is your desire, First Eagles is maybe the best out there...(maybe I should run for cover now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif).

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

Totally agree, MB_Avro. I purged the turkey from my HD about a month after I bought it months ago. I care not for Third Wire's "flight sim light" theory, and for sims which are primarily geared towards modders. I want a completed product, not a work in progress. I purged all of Third Wire's stuff from my HD. Compare AlphaSim's FS9 F-105 to Third Wire's, it's embarrassing.

Absolutely...... that's why I have no doubts whatsoever that SoW will be the bombdiggity. NONE.

yeah - First Eagles with some 'light' modability and whatnot was mildly entertaining briefly...but is no longer on my drive.

it was good for a few screenies though..too bad I purged those as well when fSX came along.

Any sim which gave you only four aircraft, most of which were screwed up to one degree or another, and the designer didn't even think it was his job to fix the problems with a patch, is a mega-turkey.

i own wings over vietnam and out of the box with a couple of enhacement mods(terrain, trees etc.) made it a bit better but for a little while,

then a third party modders headed by a real vietnam veteran made a mod called yankee air pirate and it really made WOV what it should had been in the first place but the mod(YAP) is so expensive its ridiculous.

so i gave up on the sim a while back

Yes, I was buying "Yankee Air Pirate" until I suddenly realized I was gilding a yak's butt---the FM of the aircraft was ludicrously easy due to the Third Wire "flight sim light" philosophy. Chucked the whole thing.

Got it ,like it,dont love it....But like the moddability of the Strike Fighters series in general for offline play
