View Full Version : BUG: Prefs corrupted, game crash loading after "Continue"

Happens once, shame on me, happens twice, shame on you. Game did not crash prior to prefs corruption happening. Quit game from house using Y button menu.

Deleting The Crew 2 directory in Documents (after backing up screenshots and videos) fixes the problem.

It has only happened twice, and I have seen no issues on my HDD from SMART reports or after complete chkdsk.

Hi, Carch. Did the game tell you in some manner that your preferences were corrupted? Please try verifying your game files in Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335) or Uplay (https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Faqs/000025650/Verify-Game-In-Uplay?fallback=en_GB) if you haven't already.

I did verify files with steam after the first time it happened (no problems found). The game didn't say anything about prefs. I just removed the directory as part of my own troubleshooting. Since it was crashing as the game was starting up, I figured it might be an issue with preferences or cached info. The game did send a crash report each time it crashed, so if that can be linked to my Uplay id, it might help track down the problem.

Have you seen this again or has it remained resolved?

The Crash Reports are anonymous, so it's not possible to link them back to your account, but they can still be useful for the issue in general.

It has only happened twice, and Ubi Club says I have 48 hours of game time. It seems to be random. I'd be happy to run with some kind of debugging setup or send log files or whatever if that would help.
