Several times I have found my (previous!) boats damaged severely from dc attacks and individual compartments show up to two different icons with clocks. What are these and how should I deal with these compartmental casualties relative to what these icons/clocks are depicting? Any help appreciated.

Nice advice but im fairly certain they got a bit wrong.

The flood recovery is how long till it stops flooding. The pump is time to pump it clear and the cross is time till compartment dies.

The timers will change all the time and as long as the cross (death) icon timer is higher then the pump (flooding) icon then you will not die. With this in mind you can jump the repair crew around from compartment to compartment to keep flooding level if a few are flooding. Its often lots of fun when you are doing this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif trying so hard to keep it afloat.

Also make sure you are not in silent running as pumps are switched off in this mode so you will slowly fill with water http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Another important thing is ensuring you do not drop too deep as flooding will pull you under deeper, and also you can use the visual aid of the water rising to see how bad the compartments are. If it rises too high men will drown so be carefull with the level and be prepared to emergency surface or at least raise the boat some metres.

You can see on the picture the guy in the other thread has provided the floor level of the boat is about half way up in the cut out, so there is some time before it starts rising around the mens feet ect. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Dom's advice is the best here. I've followed his advice and since then I've found managing a crisis much easier to do. Focus cold-bloodedly on the flooding compartments to the exclusion of all else, then when that's under control you can take care of the rest.
