View Full Version : Does the P-47 have 2 much recoil?

I spent about 2 hours yesterday flying the P-47 exclusively. I fell in love with this plane durring that time. She is simply awsome in the vertical and is fast as heck.

I was however unbeliveably frustrated by how much recoil she has though. It seemed to me that no matter how well I aimed, once I started shooting my crosshair would almost ALWAYS be knocked off to the side, missing the engine of the plane or whatever else I was aiming for. I also noticed that the Jug has recoil kicking her to the right. You actually need to trim the plane to the left some to counter the problem to some degree.

I am no expert on how much recoil any plane should have, but I just think something is wrong here. The Jugs guns are grouped closely together like a hurri's and she weighs 7 tons. I don't see how 8 .50cals would be enough to move 7 tons of airplane around so much.

The huge amount of recoil is deffinetly responsible for most of the complaining you hear from people tring to gun down focke wulfs ( I personally didn't kill a single 190 last night even though I had more than 10 initial clean shots on them. I was simply discusted.)

What do you guys think of this?

Yeah. Well known by now, but, we have to keep yelling about it until Oleg gives in. He knew about it too, He did it the way he _wanted_ to though. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Same problem...it seems like the recoil really pushes to the one side too...like a bank of guns on the entire side of the plane isn't firing. And like mentioned, its a heavy plane. Is this accurate?

yes there seens to be a recoil not to the back but to one side seens to be present on all the palnes but in the p 47 is really strong if you fire the guns on the grond engines off the nose of the plane will be push to the right.

this affect the aim when it fire on speed less than 300 KM/H /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif ....

Yeah ..I have noticed the same thing. If u have ever seen gun cammera shots from the real thing u don't see the plane moving off target. we all need to post this in a bug report. Maybe it will get changed.

Doesn't do it for me on the 1.1 final (rejected) patch.
I tested it today, engine on and off.

If you notice it usually happens after you take a few hits...could be one gun is damaged or jammed. I do know the recoil on the Jugs was so haevy that pilots were instructed to maintain a certain speed during GAT....otherwise they would slow down too much and stall out.
