The one in my gunsight, burning and broken...

More seriously,

Its a 3 way tie between the Spitfire XII, for sheer lines and grace, the Typhoon, just for meanace and brutish looks and the Me-262 for amanging to look sinister, even when sitting on the ground.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The Mitsubishi A6M. It was one of the few aircraft that looked gracefull and mean at the same time. The Spitfire looks too gracefull to be a fighter http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

personally, I've always thought the Spit looks absolutely hideous... it looks like a paperkite! I find nothing graceful about it's lines...

however the F4U is a beautiful plane, and so is the Tempest.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's in the eye of the beholder, as they say, and my admiration may have much to do with an Airfix box-painting (or whatever) - but it's the Lancaster for me all the way!

<span class="ev_code_white">Oleg: I think players should upgrade their PC after the release of Storm of War: The Battle of Britain, but not now. Minimum system would be probably like last year good system for IL-2 series. The simulation has gone from what was to be a study sim involving one aircraft to a real monster anthology of WWII aviation. The engine has been stretched to fit multi-engined bombers, aircraft that are linked (such as the Mistel and the TB-3/I-16 combinations), aircraft carriers, runway cratering, working searchlights, etc.

To me, the Bf 109 looks like it's deliberately designed to kill its pilot in a multitude of interesting ways. Flimsy-looking landing gear to collapse at first opportunity. Claustrophobic cage-like canopy fitting nearly as tightly as a diving suit. Great big engine to torque-roll you on takeoff. Fuel tank as a pilot seat! Tiny little wings to spin you into the ground while making final turn...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

There seems to be a bit of confusion about which bonus maps are included with the new release for MB. I know we're getting the excellent Burma map, but some sources also mention a new desert map (with roads) and a Norway map too, which will be great for RN carrier ops in northern europe 1944, as well as shipping strikes with Beaus and Mossies. See the link below;

http://www.airwarfare.com/latest.htm

But I can't see the last 2 maps mentioned here? Are they on the DVD? If not when do we get them please?

the following maps are in the "pipeline":

-Burma (actually Indian/Burma border , so , no Rangoon !)
-Kiev(large map)
-Manchuria (around Wladiwostok)
-Nomonhan (a very small map)

&lt;- these are comming with the 46 AdOn DVD

still work in progress:
-Italy online (no real Italy, but it fakes it quit well !)
-Bessarabia/Odessa
-Northern Africa (larger than the actual SandMap with not so much Dunes)
-Norway (with a part of Scotlnad on it )
-Slovakia

these are planed to be released in a free patch/adon after Christmas 06 !

Let's put it this way: the desert map was submitted by Ian Boys last week, only days after suprising the community with WiP screenshots. He has been working on the Norway map for months and I think that just got sent in as well. Will they make it onto the DVD? That depends on whether 1C:MG chooses to include either or both of these two maps with the "46" individual add-on product, which was also just completed and sent to 1C:MG by third party.

There is talk of a final 'free' patch to tie up loose ends, after the DVD is released. (How long after? Insert the "two weeks" joke here). This might give us a few other maps that are currently in progress by other teams, including a 'fake' Italian map and a complex Slovakia map.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Okay, I'll just keep watching "this space".
Some of those maps will certainly broadan our horizons a bit. The ones I'm looking forward to the most being Burma-Imphal, desert, Norway and Italy. I'm especially pleased with Imphal as I'm a Spitfire nutter!
Thanks for the info.

The Bessarabia one and the Italy I wouldn't count on. I've barely seen any of the the Italy one and Bessarabia was started pretty late...

Personally I'd be happy to have them both but I'd rather that these efforts be focused towards BOB...

the Italy one was already sent to Moskau.
the Bessarabia lookes fantastic, sure lot of work - but as far as i know this guy and his team (he is not making these things alone) , they are behind it to get it ready !
