View Full Version : Game exits about a minute after login

I tried to play the game since the early access began, but it doesn't want to.

Here's the problem :
After the intro, once I'm logged in, inside the game ("Start your story" disappears and my nickname appears on the top left), it will exit after less than a minute.
And this happens whatever I do - whether I launch the actual game or stay in the menu, do nothing, etc.

It's a clean exit, with a fadeout of a couple seconds, so there's no error, at all.

The game was working fine during beta, on the very same PC.

I've tried reinstalling both UPlay and the game itself.

I guess early access is ruined for me, but I'd like to know if I'll be able to play this game at all.

I opened a support ticket, but I don't know when I'll get an answer.

Has anyone seen this before ?

If this does not resolve your issue, please try reinstalling the game.

Looking into your system files I can see a lot of crashing with ROCCAT_Swarm_Monitor.exe.

I'd maybe try running this application with admin rights.

I would also like to ensure your drivers are fully updated.

Please let me know if this helps.

Tried with and without Roccat tools, admin or not, same issue.
Drivers are up to date, especially Nvidia ones.

The game exits _gracefully_ - there is no freeze, crash, or anything - it's as if the game or something else decided to quit after a short while.

I was suspecting BattlEye first, but I guess it's supposed to give a message when it stops the game.
And it worked well during beta, so ... what changed for release ?

Additional info : if I start the game and never press any key (which activates "Start my story" and actuallly connects to the servers), it doesn't quit.
It's only once I connect and my nickname appears that something is triggered.

I already double checked everything netword related, locally and on my router, etc.
And once again, it was working during beta.

Something to do with my account, maybe ?

I've got the problem too, I was just in the options checking if my settings were still there and it just shut down the game on me, like the actual game just closed itself, no crashes, no freezing like I was pressing the exit but not.
I've run Uplay and the game with administrator rights and no dice, still just closes down the game like it was supposed to do so.

Any luck on fixing this Issue? The Crew 2 Gold Edition, Game Crashes to desktop clean no error? Game will load and allow me to see intro movie press start go into options and change settings, but when I start first race It plays a little of the Live Extreme Series video then crashes to desktop. I have Submitted a ticket with dxdiag and msinfo32

I think that this is only the beginning of our common problem, we are waiting for an exit for the entire game community of the game on June 29, 2018, I hope that developers with a head and fix a pile error

I had this issue during the open beta. I had verified my files, went to re open the game (it re did the whole DirectX stuff) and then once that finished I rebooted my PC, which seemed to have resolved it, but I'm not sure if that was the actual solution or something else that I had done. Sadly I can't pinpoint what solved it for me.

It's probably a very simple issue, with a very specific solution.

We just need someone to look at the tickets we opened and guide us beyond the basic "drivers version, etc".

Today must be busy for the support staff, but this was to be expected.

Tried all of the described support tactics and same result around 1 minute into game it acts like it is syncing or auto saving (yellow or orange symbol) in bottom right corner and crash to desktop with no error codes I have updated windows update, Nvidia Drivers Motherboard disabled all startup and services not associated with windows, Uninstalled and reinstalled both uplay and The Crew 2, Installed on different computer and same result both are intel with Nvidia graphics cards. no firewall DMZ ect nothing changes will not let me play also played on alpha closed beta open beta with no issues at all!!!

And I spent half of my day trying everything I could think of.

Something changed between the beta and the release, but not on my PC.

I'd still bet on BattlEye policy having been updated, but I can't find any log anywhere with an error message.

And ... day 1 of early access is now dead.
Let's hope for day 2 being playable ....

First the closed beta being plagued by it's AVX issue in the game launcher making some people me included completely unable to play the closed beta, now that I paid for the gold edition just so I could enjoy the game earlier I can't even play it, AGAIN, same god damn ******** again and again.

I have patented my entire system with these programs:System Explorer , Security Task Manager , WindowexeAllKiller, Reg Organizer, SpyHunter
the problems are not up-to-date, and I also take pro-ects in EA- games pre-order, but I have never seen such problems as in this set-up and , a little disappointed.
and nothing like: ROCCAT_Swarm_Monitor.exe not found ,yes and more : ROCCAT_Swarm_Monitor.exe is not essential for the Windows OS and causes relatively few problems .

Looks exactly like the problem on PS4 in different thread on this forum. If its the same issue, then it is not hardware related. One person on PS4 replied that it repeats on different PS4 with the same account. But another account on the same PS4 works fine.

Same problem here, crashes to desktop over and over again but not when watchin the trailer.
one time i saw error 0_34 apear all the other times clean exit to desktop.
So in between i tried playing the old crew, not happening error 0_35.
what is going on here.

Okay, thanks for the info on whether it's Steam or not. Could've been a Steam-to-Uplay activation issue, but appears to be bound to Uplay exclusively.

Do any of you have User Account Control (UAC - the pop-up asking you whether an app wants admin-rights or not) disabled?

I can tell you that a friend of mine with this issue has an Intel Xeon CPU from 2014, supporting SSE4.X and AVX, which are both definitely within the CPU-specs for the game.

Besides, the people here report that they can start the game, but it closes itself without a crash after a minute or two. If CPU-requirement was an issue, the game wouldn't even start. It would give a message on start-up.

Strange on how I could play the Open Beta after the AVX issue was fixed even with my i7 970 then, this is something different.

Also I got a reply from my support ticket which told me I had gfx card driver errors and asked me to clean install the latest drivers which I did but nothing changed, is that really the best you can do? Already missed out on the first day of the so called early access with the gold edition, I'm betting the second day will also be missed, probably the third too, fat load of nothing this gold edition purchase was.

Define 1st gen CPUs? I assume you mean first generation Intel Core series processors? I have a first gen Ryzen 7 1700, which should be well above spec and I had these issues in the open beta. From what I am reading here, it is not hardware or system related. Plenty of reports on this happening on multiple systems, and systems using different accounts being fine. Also seen that this appears to be an issue on PS4 as well, so I would venture to guess this is an issue related to the Ubi accounts of the players experiencing it.

It will be impossible to gain inaccessible value three days before the Gold Edition.

that great company like Ubi cant make his game work as they advertise it. I bought the gold for the 3 day early acces (and of course the season pass). Now I see people didnt get the season pass rewards. At least their games are working. We have just paid and got nothing. (OK. we can watch the intro as many times as we want)
Why was there the beta if not for solving this kind of problems. However the beta ran perfectly on my system. I'm starting to be angry! :mad:

Here's the thing: The game works fine for me, and I also have those same lines in my launcher_log.txt.

I'm not saying that this might not be the issue that causes this, but those who can play have the same lines, it seems... So it's still possible the issue is caused by something else.

At this rate I'm not even sure we'll be able to play for the release on the 29th.

A significant part of the Gold edition advantages will be lost then.

I hope the compensation will be a good one.

Well I just got another message on my support ticket telling me to check a file called ntdll.dll which could be causing problems, emphasis on could, and I should fix it somehow, but it also mentioned "some of our players" have fixed this by reinstalling their windows, problem is that I haven't seen a single damn thread about anyone having this problem, and no one in here has even mentioned anything about any dll files here, so where are these so called players?

These support tickets are the most copy and paste answers I've ever seen, like you really expect me to follow some ******** instructions from some slackjawed deskthumper

I have made a fresh install of windows (on another drive) with drivers and minimal windows updates and the game works!!! so not sure what is causing the problem but I have everything installed to make machine work. Good Luck guys!

Well, my friend with the issue had someone else with the same problem, too.

Said person reinstalled Windows (and also replaced Win7 with Win10) and the game works fine. So something tells me it may be related to something in the Windows installation, services or such.

It will be most helpful if you guys save a DXDIAG.TXT file BEFORE YOU REINSTALL YOUR WINDOWS so we can actually figure out what the cause might be. Would help Ubi/Ivory Tower for others with similar issues.

And obviously Ubisoft can't tell what changed between beta and release to have caused this problem.

That's a lot of money spent on a "Gold' version for nothing, and a crappy service.

How do we get a refund ?

Now I'm trying to install the optional windows updates... I am just trying and trying till 2 days and cant play with the game that I have paid for.
My windows works fine. Every other installed games works fine (also Crew1). It's not my fault! Lets work Ubi please!!!

Wel guys, i did byte trough the dust and did a clean install of my OS.
Im running win7 and it has only installed what i needed, latest drivers for grafics and all that jazz.
Installed The crew 2 again......guezz what???
IT CRASHES LIKE BEFORE, in the same manner as i got {not} used to.
i might say im getting a little pissed.

Its the last day of the early... I have sent every documents, every information and got no reply from ubisoft customer service.
I think somebody who cant play with the game has greater problems than others who cant paint the car properly or has bugs in the garage...

gentlemen after a clean reinstallation of windows 7 ultimate x64, there is progress, reached the first turn and crash, ridiculous and yes, thank you developers for my February pre-order :), and yes there would be a good compensation for pre-order, so that the production of handicraft creators at least earned :)

We have spent the maximum amount of money on this game. They have our money why would they take care of us? Now they want others money. They are trying to reach non-buyers. We wont give them more money even if our game would run well. So they have to win those who didnt buy the game yet. Thats disgusting. :(

I have managed to solve the problem and I have drawn some conclusions.

Previous observations:
- Apparently, the problem is occurring only on Windows 7 computers.
- It is not a crash, but a closing of the game correctly

Actions done:
- Update (not formatting) windows 7 to windows 10, keeping all the data and programs installed
- Update the drivers of the graphics card for windows 10 (in my case NVIDIA GTX960)

Results:
- The game runs fine with the same installation (not need to reinstall The Crew 2 or Uplay)

Conclusions:
- It does not seem like a problem with The Crew or Uplay. Can it be some inconsistency between Battleye and Windows 7?

They have to solve the problem because not we are the only ones who have win 7. A lot of people will try to play the game on friday with similar system and they will be unable to play. What will happen?

That doesn't have to mean anything. BattlEye can probably be set up by the developers of the games to either be more or less strict.

I guess Ivory Tower / Ubisoft are using wrong settings, causing Win7-users to have issues.

It has always taken me out of the game at the same time he informed me of the connected friends.
Everything indicates that it kicks me when checks something. That's why I think that it can be related with BattleEye or the uplay license check.
All the cases about I have read in forums, reddit, etc... indicated that their operating system were always windows 7, as in my case. That's why I rely on the premise that it only happens in windows 7.

Had the Same Issues. Closed Discord, as someone suggested and it worked for me then.

Yes it's surely a win7 related error. But win 7 64k is a supported system as they described.
Wouldnt be too big thing to change the whole system because of one game?
Anybody from UBI at least tell something you are working on the problem and dont tell everytime to check windows updates, drivers, etc. Our machines are fine.

So, I just bought this game through Steam, got the gold edition. Same problem as everyone else, once I'm logged in, the game closes after a minute or 2 with no error.

I'm having the same issue. Can only get about 30 seconds into the first cinematic scene of the game, and I get a CTD, with no error. Also, I played Open Beta with no such problem.

A friend of mine is having the same issue. We have done alot of testing. After he installed the crew2, all the other uplay/ubisoft games had the same issue. The crew 1, wildlands, farcry 5 etc would crash after startup aswell. They close after opening or completely freezes the pc. When checking the windows reliability history you can clearly see that the fault is with batteye. It says there that batteye had stopped working everytime. So we deleted the Batlleye folder that is inside the crew 2 folder. After that all the other ubisoft games started working again. Except the crew 2 cause it will install battleye again when u click play.

So i would recommend ubisoft that until you can find out what is causing this to happen, disable battleye or completely remove it. Alot of time battleye causes issues in games.

He played the game fine during closed alpha and closed beta, when u didn't have battleye in the game. As soon as u added it problems arose. In some cases battleye is affecting some wheel drivers to not launch aswell.

So disable it temporarily until u can figure out what is wrong so people can play or remove battleye completely from the game!

Mine is also exiting out of the game right after i click start my story.
Im running a high end machine i7 8700 gtx1080 16RAM
Using a ROG swift monitor with res at 3440x1440
Im also using windows 10.

Has there been a fix for this yet? Im curious to actually to be able to try this game out :\

Funny thing is, this is my first experience with ubisoft and with uplay.
Think ill just stick with Steam based games, good thing i paid $0 for this garbage or i would be pissed!

Battleeye is an anticheat service. If the game will not start it is often because people have modified the game. Battleye will not start the game if you modify the files. I have no issues with any of these games that use it personally.

Yep... Looks like problem with BattlEye in Windows 7. Game shutdown after 90-100 sec after start, no matter what I am doing... But on the same PC in Windows 10 no any problem with it and same game (same game files) working fine.

Community just solved the problem... Here's even the file that causes "crash". I think Ubisoft don't even want to see this... What is Ubi doing?

the reson for you game to crash is because of battleye, me and Takahoshi found out that it even crashes crew 1... and faarcry and wold lands basickly all Uplay and ubisoft games.
if you go in on where you instaled crew 2 and delete battleye folder you will be able to play crew 1 and all other Uplay and ubisoft games again.
they should deactivate battleye or remove it until they could fix it.

OMG it WORKS!! I can finally Play the game I Pre-ordered, and was SUPPOSED to be able to play early!

WTF Ubisoft screwed up again :( I am still waiting to play through FC5 a second time, as they still have not completely fixed
gamepad support in that game, should have never been broken to begin with.

I am so glad someone from the community posted this fix, as who knows how many weeks it'll take Ubisoft to fix this, and by that time my refund window
on Steam would have expired.

Ubi needs to thank this person, as I was nearly ready to refund this game, as I am sure many others were too. Hated the thought of doing it, but what other choice would I have if the game would not even run?

I have same problem.
I can play The Crew 2 only 1-2 minute, and program shutdowned without any massage.

Specs:
Windows7 pro 64bit
Core i7 3770K
DDR3 16GB (8GB×2)
GTX 1060 6GB

Though,I found a method enable to play The Crew 2 by replacement BEService_x64.exe with same name file in Beta version The Crew 2.
Maybe BattlEye caused this proburem.
but,I fear that this method is at risk of another problem and being judged cheat.
So I'm waiting for official fix.

Well, I also get the same issue when I used the beta version .exe

crashes in the same spot, I think its the character creation screen ? ... not too sure, I cant get past 'start your adventure'

Haven't heard anything from the support team yet.

Case #: 06569028 msinfo / DxDiag files were sent in support ticket as well.

Btw, crash log file is empty.

Well, doing a fresh, clean re-installation of windows 7 did the trick for me, but I still lost 5 days, thats including the 3 days I was supposed to have playing it early for buying the gold edition, to look for a proper resolution for fixing the problem, no way in hell should reformating and reinstalling windows be the way for fixing a problem with a game, especially when the game worked fine in the open beta just a day before the early release!

Well, something must be up with Win 7 then, maybe over time with updates and such something got out of whack with that nt.dll file or something.

I got my game working using the beta version of the battleye program, and I am NOT willing to re-install windows for the sake of one game.

My fear is, if they ever put out a patch and Steam does it's updating (I have my game through steam), it'll replace the battleye program and my game will stop
working again.

So, is it safe to use the older BEService_x64.exe? I suspect since it in itself is the application that checks if it should kick/ban a user and we exchanged the file, it should be safe because it cannot detect that its own executable is a different one than the one that was shipped with the game?

Finally got a response from my support ticket. They are so pleased I was able to find a temporary soloutiion to the problem, oh yay (sarcasm intended)
Granted, replacing the BEService_x64.exe file with the one from the beta DOES allow the game to work.

But what's going to happen when their is a patch put out, or for whatever reason we have to verify our game files (which is the FIRST thing most people reccomend to do whenever there is a problem. If we do that, then the broken version of BEService_x64.exe will likely be re-downloaded, and the game will be broken again.

If they actually believe I am going to go through all of the below just to get this one game working, then they are sadly mistaken. My PC is in fine shape, and I am not going to cripple it just for the sake of one broken game.

Anyhow, here is the response I got from my "support" ticket, my info I provided them is also listed there:

Note: If you are using Windows 7, you will need to press Ctrl + A together to highlight the files. Once the files are highlighted, you will need to press the Delete key.

3. Make sure the drivers for your video card, sound card, motherboard and processor are up-to-date. Running 2 cards in SLI or running 2 screens can also cause issues. Deactivate SLI or unplug any additional screens you may be using. If you are overclocking, try running at the stock clock settings.

4. Make sure that any antivirus or firewall software on your system is disabled.

5. Install Windows Updates:
Click on the Windows Start button and go to All Programs --> Windows Update. In the left pane, click "Check for updates" and if any are found choose "Install updates."

A community member has posted a temporary fix. Apparently, the file: BEService_x64.exe that comes with the full release of the game is causing issues, and replacing said file with the one that came with the beta completely resolves the issue. The last patch -- 1.03 -- did not solve the problem. The game is still unplayble to me. It crushes to desktop after 20-60 sec of "playing" with no error message. Great job guys!

It *might* circumvent some permission problems running as admin, problems it shouldn't have at all in the first place.

We also can not recommend workarounds not verified by game teams.

And tech. support is awful - I spent HOURS multiple times re-downloading, re-installing it, moving it from one HDD to another, re-installing C++ libraries. And none of them mentioned that problem is with one single file. It would be much more better if in the begging they would just told me - "Ok, we are aware of the issue and doing our best to fix it ASAP, please be pantioned and wait". But NO! All of them advised to do some stupid steps on which I wasted my time. And multiple times they told me, that they are escalatining my case further. I mean my case was already escalated like two weeks ago and now someone is telling me - "Ok, I am going to escalate your case". It has been already escalated! It's like they don't think and don't read just CTRL+C > CTRL+V.

Hi, after 2 weeks of chatting with the Ubisoft support I was able to find a fix that worked for me:
1- Reinstall all the Microsoft visual c++ and .NET Framework, if you have already done it before, you don't need to do it again.
NOTE: if you have installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2017" remove it and don't reinstall it.
2- Run the "cmd" as admin and execute the command "sfc /scannow" following this guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system
3- Do a clean install of the GPU drivers
4- uninstall Uplay without uninstalling The Crew 2 because it will only waste your time
5- install the lastest version of Uplay
6- right-click the Uplay shortcut and click "open file path", go to "games/The Crew 2" and remove the BattlEye folder.
7- open "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files" and rename the BattlEye folder in BattlEye.old
8- open "C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\AppData\Local" and rename the BattlEye folder in BattlEye.old
9- open Uplay as admin and check the game files, this will download the BattleEye files deleted in step 6
10- Run the game, you'll be asked to restart the pc, do it.
11- Open the game and you shuld be able to play.
That worked for me but I can't guarantee that this will fix your game.

I have played the game since betas, and no problems other than an ocational freezing screen. And yesterday after a few hours playing the game starting to crush every time with a black screeen (whith the LIVE logo loading) then exits itself back to the desktop (no error message) after a few seconds passing the title screeen and starting playing.

The solution: replace the Battleeye server file provided by the message I'm replying.

Just a quick note: The patch 1.1.0 from September 25th finally fixed the problem for me. All the BattlEye files got an update and now I can get past the main menu easily. In fact I just played a whole hour without any problems.
