Hi all.
Bought a new hdd & installed it yesterday, then installed Conviction today, but can't play it because the key "is already in use". How can I fix this? I still have the other hdd & its data if something is needed from there.
Thanks.

PS -- I found a suggestion in another post to start the Game Launcher first. It accepts my name and password, and immediately asks for the Key. That's as far as I get.

********************************************

PSS -- 28 hours later. I responded to Ubisoft's automated response saying that if I don't respond within 48 hours they will assume my issue is resolved. The automated response, shockingly, had nothing to do with my situation.

I paid for this product with the intent of using it AS ADVERTISED. It worked great w/my old hard drive, yet now the cd-key is invalid b/c I installed it on another drive, on the exact _same_ PC.

Unless I get a fix to this problem within 24 hours, I will use downloaded "cracks" to facilitate the PROPER AND INTENDED USE of this product, I will refuse to buy any future Ubisoft game with this kind of DRM, and I will tell everyone I know about the dangers of buying from Ubisoft.

I hope you see that you're simultaneously screwing your base -- legitimate, PAYING users -- and giving the win to those you call enemies, the pirates. Hopefully you'll take note of how negatively this DRM has impacted your income.

And in my not-so-humble opinion those in charge of investigating the merits and demerits of this type of DRM should be *****-slapped, if not fired outright. Did you guys adopt these measures without testing, or at least *theorizing*, the potential problems??

Unbelievable.

Dont create new profile. Just log into that one, you played on before reinstalation. I think, its the only one positive apect of Online-only based-profile. BTW, why we cant download game online, if it still requires internet, like we could on Steam?

Just install the game, from the CD - and just sign into the Ubi account you used to play it the first time...

the CD Key info will already be linked to that account, so it won't ask you again.

If you need the CD key to access extras, then I suggest you contact Ubisoft Support, who with your Ubi account details, may be able to trace it for you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you bought it on Steam, it will be listed under the section for your Keys? - even though Steam shouldn't ask you again?

That's assuming you have a paid for retail DVD and have installed it before http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Thanks for your advice, but such attempts were unsuccessful. I said in my last post that I am a PAYING customer. I purchased the game, and I've been given no answer to my dilemma within the time frame I stipulated, but I realize that Ubisoft is a big company and they may need more time to respond to my query if it's unique, so I'm giving them 72 more hours to resolve my issue.

However, and regretfully, I argue that Ubisoft will not answer this plea b/c Ubisoft is TOO BIG to give a damn about its "customers", its pathetic little slaves. Just like the U.S. (my own country) treats its citizens, we are scum filth, who do not deserve even the most basic level of decency or honesty.

After learning what I have about Ubisoft's recent past, I will not be surprised if I get an email telling me that my claims cannot be validated, and I am therefore full of it, meaning that I have to purchase a new key for the GAME I PAID $60 FOR!

Boy, I'm angry.

It's the SAME NAME logging in from the SAME LIMITED IP POOL! How in the HELL can you Ubisoft people not figure out that I'm logging in from the same place?

I look forward to issuing an extensive apology.

Its unclear from your first post if you replied to the email from Ubisoft tech support, the first response does cover many know issues because sadly not all users are tech savvy and many issues are basic and easy to resolve.

If you've supplied the information they requested and not heard back please contact me in private topic with the ticket number, the time of first and subsequent emails from yourself to them etc and I will look into it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
