Is it convergence? Or do I have to get really close?

Well, it probably doesn't matter, it would be better the closer you got, maybe set convergence on oh...100 or 500. In this game, basically the closer you are, the more accurate. Planes are crappy snipers. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Wow, I really look good on your six. Mind if I stay there?

Convergence.

If I ever have to fly an amis plane, I always set the convergence lower. Usually I fly with 215 on both MG and cannon in a Fw190, Bf109, or my trusty stuka /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

But in a P40 or P47, convergence for me definately goes down to 150. This convergence, IMO allows for great deflection shooting and making sure you bring either 6 or 8 of those .50's on the target.

I really dont see what the whining is about with the .50's. You can tear off the wing of a Fw190 with a 1 second burst, hitting at the convergance point mind you /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Convergence is very important with wing guns. You should always shoot at the distance you have it set at. 100-200m works ok.

Quoting Lixma: "Spray and pray.".

The closer you get the less you have to pray but those things make a swarm of bullets all around the general vicinity of what your aiming at (or not).

even with convergence to 3.0 hitting a russian plane at .30 they dont seem to work good, now a 109 or 190 you blow them up from 1.8 out with very minimal hits. Btw wings had a nice documentary on the p51 this morning they talking about the .50 cal in the p51d 1 tracer round which was white, and the ammo they used in ETO were explosive rounds with incidary tips "magnesum" the gun cam footage was amazing 2 tracers and a 190s wing would rip off 20 shots also when hit in the fuselage it would burst into flames but not explode like planes in FB
