Maybe we need to start a support group but let me say the following things.

1) I love this game in all of its diversity and variety

2) I love this game for its difficulty, its challenge, its mind numbing frusteration, its expensive habits its developed in me (new hardware, new sticks, airshow tickets)

3) I love this game for adding new stuff often and sometimes in great numbers

4) I will fly any plane, I will take any new addon, and I will keep playing this as long as I can and as long as it upholds its current level of quality]

5) I don't care if the new planes are jets, props, biplanes, or if they have small peashooters or big honking cannons

I'm a IL-2 series junkie...I have a problem http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Fanboi;

Might I suggest healthy doses of Thorazine, shock treatments, and possibly surgery......Although, try the former two first as I've always been a believer in.....

+1

I flew for 5 hours last night. It started with a couple of co-ops with Megile that he had made, which were great fun. First covering A20's in Spit Vs, then attacking them in FW190's

Then we both tried out another guys coop in which we flew Japanese attacking carriers, then Hellcats attacking the Japanese bombers/Zeros.

THEN onto WInds of War where I flew another 4 hours various missions.

Just a normal day on Il2/Fb, I flew till I nearly fell asleep at the keyboard http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Proud to be a Fanboi. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PS You up for a game now Icefire? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Gotta get myself upgraded to 4.05 today and then I'll try and be on. Busy days so I've not been on much.

There's a cure for your predicament. It's called more IL-2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I think this is the only "game" where people have consfused addon for patch. Yes, we do have a lot to be grateful for.

Me too.

Been a Sim junkie for ten years now; and IL-2 is the best hit in a long line of addictions.

BTW Icefire; let me know how 4.05 affects your installation; I've been holding off...

OK....I've taken the plunge and installed PE-2. There are good points and bad points.

BAD POINTS
- Despite buying from the UK site and paying in Pounds, the BoontyBox software defaults to French during the installation process, changing to English requires a restart of the software which is otherwise doing its hardest to be automatic in every way
- Good and bad is that I didn't realize about the auto install and what happened is that it auto installed into the Boonty directory instead of my game directory, probably because I prevented it from scanning my system
- I had to manually copy the files over, no problem and actually prefered for me because I like to deal with real files and not system interfaces, but this is sort of a funny thing

GOOD
- The new patch is very good provided you don't use the Boonty crash prone EXE's (I skipped that altogether)
- The game works as before (so far)
- The missions that come with the addon pack (the ones I've tried so far) are all 4 of 4 stars in terms of quality, they are well done, fun, and exciting missions to play
- The Pe-2 and Pe-3 rock, they are a funny plane to fly and will take some getting used to in terms of knowing the limits of the aircraft (don't pull too hard, they stall fairly easily) but they are awesome as dive and attack bombers
- People who aren't good at the IL-2, not good at the B-25, terrible at virtually all ground attack aircraft, may find the Pe-2 to be the best they've used as the plane flies a very straight line, doesn't require alot of extra effort unless you start manuevering, and the bombing attack is easy as all you do is get to 3000m above the target, roll over, point the gunsight at your target, hold the dive and steady onto target, drop bombs, and pull up...its SO fun!
- In tweaking the Pe-2's FM...they may have modified some of the other FMs a bit...ultimately I don't think this affects many but the P-51 was more pleasant to fly in 4.05 than 4.04...may be placebo...but I'll keep at it

I am enjoying 4.05.

The only thing is that I find the flights to the mission objective very long. I know this is part of flying a bomber, but it gets a bit tiresome after the 5th mission on a row, I just wanted to get straight into the action.

Also the speed up time key doesnt work very well becasue there are so many planes in each mission ( I counted about 60 in the first mission). Its tough for your comp to work out all the Ais and as a result speed up time doesnt speed it up much. (we all know the stuttering when we put it up to 8x and its even worse with this addon as a result of so many planes)
