Please Oleg, we need catapult on CVE. Actually it's really difficult to take off from a CVE with a corsair or a Hellcat with only 2 X 500 lbs bombs.
Please there's still a great bug on CVE. If you take the deck on the 6th cable and more, you stop AFTER the carrier in the water !

Last question will we have some CVL ? will we have USS Langley ?

what would even be better than that would be if we could have ships that steamed into the wind so that we could have a 45 knot wind over the flight deck during take off and landing.

actually a catapult function for all static carriers would be very helpfull. so far i know its impossible to get moving groundobject on dogfight maps. would be to much work - understandable !

A catapult would really make these problems go away, for both coops and DF servers. I think it could be done in a similar way to how Oleg has the SPB set up. You taxi up to the cat and hit the "attach" key. The plane would then automatically position itself. After running up to full power, hit another key (yet to be determined) and your plane is given a sudden acceleration to whatever they did in RL. If he ever gets this figured out, maybe he could model catapults on the cruisers for the Kingfisher which is being modeled at this time.

Catapults would be realy cool. But it is understandable if we never get it ( unfortunatly ).

I wonder if instead of static CVs in DF maps, they could make some DF maps with moving ships that are fixed to the map---they'd sail patterns, maybe 1 group in each cornet of the map. Perhaps it would be possible if was coded to the map?

I'd totally support moving carriers in DF maps!

but unfortunately it seems to be impossible to have moving AI-objects on dogfight maps (sadly an old problem since the first IL-2 version)

So the idea of assigning a wind value JUST fer the flight deck cannot be implemented??

Maybe I wasn't clear. I realize the moving AI objects are not possible, I was thinking maybe it would be possible if they were on a fixed "racetrack" coded to the map (CV is always at point X at such and such a time)

Japanese carriers did not catapults.

The CVLs and CVEs were the primary users of catapults throughout the war. The Essex class had them, but they were rarely used until later in the war when the ship's air groups went from 80 to over a hundred planes. It then became convenient (or necessary) to use the catapult to get a strike off with so many planes spotted on the flight deck.
