im purchasing a new motorcycle. i havent got it yet, but i allready got everything planned out, waiting to docide on initial color, and a few other options...once brought home, start converting it.

i DONT need or want to hear "why are you buying this!?!?!?" you need to get a "XXXXXX! brand/style" i love underdogs. besides, ive allready done my research.

but i need your help on what WWII plane it could closely resemble. once painted with correct colors/theme. i plan on using the authentic colors,country/unit markings, nose art, language, symbols EXCEPT the "stika"! no need for that. this is for a tribute to aviation, not shock and horror against todays modern society.

anyways ive decided to pick one of these two variations. red/gray or "blackout" framed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/comet3_800.jpg

now the bike is a 650 cc V-TWIN, with a simple but current engine (this could come into play with the deciding scheme)

i have a few ideas for different aircraft colors/markings, and want to see what others can come up with.

NO JETS. props only.

pics of plane/ markings welcome..or photoshopped bike schemes welcome too.

first off, i'd ride it for a few months to work out it's 'character'.

but as you're looking for ideas:-

as its a twin, a p38 in silver, stars+bars, panel lines/rivets painted on, bit of nose art etc

or a matt black mosquito? more discreet( a pru pink spit if you want to be seen http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

add some fake? cannon on the nose, add some more dials/switches to the 'instrument pannel' and don't forget the gunsight!

sounds like a fun idea

Try not to make it too distracting. The road's are so crowded now, and seemingly full of moron's. Easy to get hurt now a day's

Paint it silver (polished metal) with panel lines and rivets.

Tell us more about this manufacture.

I would say a nice painting in RLM colors would be nice, something like the early midle 109 camo.

Different kinds of grey, and a light blue botom ( instead of soak you will have mud there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Additional if you like an emblem of a JG and of course a yellow nose (below the frontscreen) Don´t forget the C3 triangle for more power http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Also the wheels should get a spiral (like the spinner) or an early red/white or black/white painting
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Beside nice idea by you!

Edit: I had some time so a kind of sketch.
Bikes are evil, so it should get a painting of an evil plane!

Simple, light blue background. Have a professional airbrush a P-51 that has colors that offset the back ground! You cannot deny that the P-51 is associated with speed and grace! I would not make the whole bike look like a P-51. I would paint one on the front cowling. Give us a pic when done!

Hyosung is a South Korean company with a working relationship to Suzuki Motorcycles.

I have seen a Harley Davidson that was painted up as a Flying Tigers P-40. Very little chrome and it looked clean.

Easy to go way too far with the airplane theme and look like some kinda wannabe.

Maybe just pick out some pinup noseart? It is a bike and riding something that nice you
are either in the moment on what you got or just pay someone else to scrape the pegs for ya.

Think.

Herman Grafs 190 A5 colours would look tastey

Or you could always do a "Sharkmouth"

If I were so lucky to have such a fine bike, I wouldn`t ask anyone`s opinion of what to paint it. I`d paint it the colour of my most favourite aircraft`s colour scheme.

I mean, do you really want to drive in someone else`s favourite colours??

ABBUZZE and JAWS!!!!!!!

THAT IS .....

DA-SHI-T!

ive been trying photoshop a lot, but i cant figure out how to change colors of an area, "without it looking like its microsoft paint bucket (other than changing the color spectrum itself)ive just been doing simple cut/pasting of stuff.

i dont know how long that took, but i THANK YOU for your work! may i ask one of a spitfire as well?

in these colors.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/spitfire4Q01.jpg

for general info

i wont be adding any extras....no gizmo's, attachments. just authentic paint decor. i do plan on adding the cockpit color to the clocks, and possible triple tree as well.

i also will add that i really dont have intentions of making it SHINY in look. by that i mean no traditonal clearcoat. if i can get it done with a flat clear (if possible??) or a satin sheen at max. i DONT want it to be a SHOWBIKE, just a personal one of a kind tribute. and "SHINY" is normally associated with "JET" i feel.

oh..and im not concerned with keeping the ACTUAL HYOSUNG badge. i dont want any manufacturer names visible on teh bike..just to keep people guessing.

depending on the scheme, the frame may or may not be painted...

actually thanx to all the ideas so far in general. im liking ya'lls input.

SEAFIRE, i know what ya mean mate, but i like seeing other suggestions as well. i love my creativity, but im TOO detail oreinted and over look many items other people might not.

but its nice to see a different take on the same item.

i agree with MAXGUNZ. i dont want a "showbike". this is a will be a daily driver. one of the reasons im worry of adding rivets/panel lines. over usage of detail will kill the message/feeling.

Thanks GAU8.

It was not that much work I think 20min for rough work and 10 min for fine tuning.

A Spitfire with invasionstripes would be much more and harder work, because the surface is not flat. A LW camo is easier http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif . I made this picture with Gimp but I will save it as a PSD file. Maybe you have fun with playing around a bit. Just send me a PM with your e-mail adress then you will get the template with a layer for the red surfaces of the bike.

photo recon blue might be nice.

imo the plain lw cammo looks abit ghey on the bike (fine on the plane tho)
jaws's on looks better.

my dad saw a model of the new airbus that was a white pearl essent, that might suit the bike well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Paint it pink, with a lot of big daisies and big bright yellow smiley faces all over it.

It would look so cute! Doncha think? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I definitely agree with a polish aluminum/rivets combo, with a light blue or a dark blue in various places to add color to it. I really think adopting a P-51 type paint job would look really nice, even though the mustang isn't my favorite plane. If the spitfire with invasion stripes is your favorite though, definitely go with that. You want to be happy every time you get on that bike!

well i decided what i want a while back. but recently a self imposing scare of "politically correctness" was brought upon myself. i had to check with other people, to see if my thoughts were a true concern...or just plain silliness. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

i consoled with a few of my brothers pilot friends, personal/work friends, and a few others here on forums as well (thankyou!)thankfully i recieved a warm and unanimous response http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

what freaked me out, was realising this is not a project im hanging on my wall, or suspending from a ceiling, playing in a virtual flight sim, or seeing display in a private building.

this is going to be out in the OPEN PUBLIC WORLD! visible to all who are on the roads, or see it parked.

my concern was "at what point could i get too detailed...and it starts to offend others?"

thousands of aviation pilots, are in houston TX, as well as many WWII vets, who still go out and about on a daily basis. what if i disgraced them by what my machine represented? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif last thing i want is a bunch of people at my door wanting to pull "that ungratful SOB motorcyclist " to the nearest curb and have a run with me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

i KNEW my intentions were good, but would others percieve it that way? its not like id be wheelying down the road, doing burnouts, and acting a complete jack a s s with "666" and "de furhers sidekick" plastered on the side of the bike..

granted people have a misconception that all bike riders are evil, or ride deathtraps and are on a downward spiral. as much as i like some other designs, i wanted something from "home" and put into light that i VERY proud of. i cant really do that with some "other" designs, such as 109's, 190's and such

living in the south, the TUSKEGEE AIRMEN are a big thing, and have been a part of my life, since finding out about "REDTAILS" history. i have made my choice to commemorate my personal aviation heroes, and friends. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif (i could go on and on and on about them but...where will it stop!!!?) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

THE UGLY PART::::

i need help ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif
im just learning photoshop (free edition?) and could use assistance, in the whole design layout/placement. some items i get ok, but others i just dont know the tricks. if your interested in helping, feel free to give me a PT.

this is REALLY rough draft. so nothing special yet, but a few different versions to get some kind of ball rolling...nothing final by any means. im upset at my attempts http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

the first two are body designs, from a manual, the 3rd one one is an actual attempt (minus rivets) of trying to get #2's "aluminum polish w/ exhaust" type effect. its much to dark though on the actual silver sheen, but i like the exhaust.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/TUSKEGEEAIRMENDRAFT2.jpg

another one at the last minute. tried it with rivets, wish i could get the shadowing better...but im happy for learning!
