with the 512x512 it really brings the plane down from looking as authentic as it could

I agree with you foo.bar, Also some of the larger aircraft or fighters with poor uv mapped voids tiny pieces of fighters wings and fuselages on 1024 reduce the skin quality so much.

for example: looking out on the wing compaired to fs2004 or janes wwii fighters textures which look photo realistic especially panel lines and rivets


Also something has got to be done about skin dls. Every server but virtual pilots has them off and it does not effect their server at all having skin dls on.

Skins should be transfered not while in game slow kb transfers to effect lag the least but when the next map loads up so all skins should be transfered higher speeds during the mission loading process, regiment, pilot, noseart and aircraft skin.

Then if you change the skin during the game others wont see it till next map load.

This is one of the only ways to have skin dls on in all servers and have it not effect gameplay on the slower bandwidth and server machines.

The other thing is having skins of the same name show immediatly if the other users have the same skin.

I have still yet to see the same skin names show in a server with skin dls off.

I think oleg should test this for fb/aep/pf fo a solution to skin dls in bob which suppost to be 2048x2048.
