why don't a lot of people get into online flying? Over the past couple of nights I've been flying online and only see a few servers with a max of 12 people on it. (usually only 1 has 12, the others are either empty or have 3 - 6 players). Doesn't anyone like online flying?

I was on the greater green server last night and I actually flew about 4 missions (it was the Kuban peninsula mission) with another guy 'Olli' flying H111's in somewhat formation, bombing the russian factories! it was totally awesome - we avoided all the airfields and flew about 200m above the ground the whole way. I only got clobbered once coz I strayed too close to the russian airfield, but on the 3rd mission Olli got attacked by the combined firepower of our mg's drove the attacker away (with a telltale plume of smoke), and our last mission, we both got attacked whilst on short final...but we both managed to land - intact - but full of holes!! funny thing was, the red team was searching for us all over and couldn't find us!! lol.

I love online flying!!!

Hello jttthomas

I fly on the greater green server practically every evening and I love it. That is the only place I fly FB. Look for me there sometime and we'll do some bomber run's or some JU-87G attack's on the tank's.

Hey, that was a pretty good game. Its fun to fly He-111 when u got some escort or at very least another bomber to fly formation with /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif That headon landing we did at the end was rather cool that we both survived intact (going to check if i got it on track too) lol. Like Kanno i play on Greatergreen a lot, cya there /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Not many people care about IL2/FB anymore.

The dumbed down flight models, the slow trim, the patch that has never been released, it all adds up to lack of interest in the online dogfight arena.

IL2 .. now there was a classic. FB? No way. Not yet thats for sure (even after X months)

Hey Olli

good to hear from you dude! Its been a while since I've flown with someone else using H111's. usually everyone is out for fighters or fighterbombers...but I usually have more fun flying the bombers eg. H111 and TB3, although the H111 sucks trying to bomb with the proper bombsight because its too hard trying to keep the bomber level - thats why I prefer low level.

I'll definitely look out for you guys on Greater green when I fly next. Would be good if the new patch had more bombers in it...esp the JU88!! thats a real beauty coz its just as fast most fighters.

Keep dreaming EAlaurens. Alot of people don't understand that there is a difference between what they believe is morally true, and what is actually true. If you think online interest in IL2/FB is at an all time high then I feel sorry for you. It's at an all time low (except for the first week after IL2 was released).

When you start messin with people's trim and making a CFS3 FM, thats when the level of interest in the game declines as has been noted by jttthomas.

rays wrong about the trim once again, but hl has been slow the last few months, people pi$$ed about the patch. I know many people who use to fly daily who i keep in contact with moved onto other games.

Even though I admire RBJ's sense of humour, and I agree partially with what Leadspitter_ said, I have noticed in the past couple of months that player counts in HL are consistently 40-50% higher for FB than what they were for IL2 in the few months before FB came out.

This may be a timezone thing - I log on to HL in the evenings (GMT+8). But I have also noticed that there are far fewer coops running these days than before, and I do know that at least some people are playing other games until the FB patch appears.

Greatergreen is a fine server. I have been flying there almost exclusively since the IL2 days. The new maps combined with FBD really promote teamwork and good fun far beyond airquake. I will look forward to flying with/against you in the future S! BTW Ollie is pretty much a regular himself and a darn fine pilot.
