Yes it is indeed terrible.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif so much suffering for a people that have so little http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I wonder what Al Jihad will blame this one on, they said the Hurricanes in America were God punishing the unjust infidels.... As this one is more or less on their Home patch, one wonders what they will try to blame this on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Ive seen the news on tv about the earthquake and I lost my words to describe what I felt... 25000 dead so far... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Anyway, about the claims,...

It never stop to saddens me whenever a small factions of the "so-they-called-themself religious" using any and every disaster that happens to "other" people as God punishment "for them". Clearly shows that the level of ignorance in those "so-they-called-themself religious" is enormous.

It's also never stop to saddens me that those groups took terms and words from the holy Quran and twisted those words for their agenda. I bet most people in the west assume the word "jihad" as "holy war", instead of its true meaning that is "to strive, struggle". Do any you know that starting from last week for a full month, I'm on my biggest jihad? Im on my fasting season, and this is truly a struggle - the biggest struggle. Struggle against myself.

It's also never stop to saddens me that they're using those terms and deliberately twisted the meaning of verses from Quran and the sayings from the prophet to trick innocent youths to do their dirty works for them, as what has happened just a week ago in my country.

I still remember what my parents taught me when I was a kid that whenever you pointed a finger to someone, you should noted that you got four other fingers pointed back at you. Too bad for them it doesnt matter, because any wrongs that happened to them are always "other people's mistakes to us".

Ignorances everywhere... The west "assumes" anything middle eastern/south asian.. or dare I say "Islamic" as bearded terrorist carrying AK-47 and RPGs in the streets while those so-they-called-themself-religious "assumes" anything western as evil... My dear God, im getting tired of all this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Sorry for my rants folks... I just couldnt stand not to write about this...

Carry on.

I have lots of friends both at home and throughout the world from multi cultures and religions.
I see that there are 2 British rescue teams on the scene helping as we speak, If one thing comes out of this terrible situation, I hope it is tolerance, people the world over from all religons will see that in a time such as this religon and cultures goes out of the window and we become one race in the attempts to save others...

It happened with the Hurricanes and Tsunamis, it will happen again, Those that hate will have real trouble drumming up support from peoples that see the world coming to their aid and asking nothing in return.
One thing that stood out with the Hurricane Katrina aid was Sri Lanka , Struggling with the aftermath of it's own Tsunami, offered donations to help, it might not have been a staggering amount, but that was not the point, they offered what they could.

I have no real insight into your religion & am wondering what you wish to achieve by fasting for a full month, it is an extreme test of ones willpower & spirit. Does it give you personal insight into yourself?

On another note my heart goes out to all those struck by this disaster & I hope the world can pull together to ease the suffering of the many

Yes it's a yearly event. But since we used lunar calendar to measure the dates and months for ritual events, its always occured sooner by several weeks than the previous year. This time the fasting season was started on October 5th...

We started fasting at dawn until dusk. For a full month. We refrain ourself from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual intercourse - for married couple - during the daytime. But even more than that, we're also required to supress our emotions, give more alms to the poor and so on. In short, to increase our good deeds as much as we can and supress - or even better - to eliminate our own bad deeds and bad habits as much as we can.

This is why we called it the greater struggle and it's within and against oneself. Is it hard to do? For the "physical" fasting part, the hardest days are only the first three days to a week. After that your body adjusts and will do just fine. Medically, the 30 days lull for the digestion system is actually a benefit since this gives our digestion system a rest for the next 11 months. Or so that I believe http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But truly, the hardest part is the "mental" fasting (my own terms). Trying to identify and realize one's own bad habits is hard, but trying to change them to the better after identifying them is even harder. This is what fasting season really means for me. And from what I learned all this time.

Hope this is enough. If you like to know more, please PM me. Im not going to turn this thread into an Islamic preaching or "c-r-a-p" as someone might said http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyway, about Pakistan... I do hope all those that perished in the earthquake are in a better place by now... Since they're died in our holy month http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

May God bless them

Lets not sully this thread with politics.... or religion if you arent offering up prayers to whomever you sincerly pray to. These things happen because they do.... Although I do hold my own religious beliefs I have seen these things turn ugly real quick.. between the Muslims and the Christians... and the Atheists and the Cynics.... etc.. so.. condolences.
