As soon as I press 'Play' my computer freezes.
I have updated all drivers, turned all the display settings down, resolution 800x600, Uninstalled and re-installed to a larger drive (50 gb free)

Any ideas?

Suggestions:

1. If that's not what you did, try re-installing EoA from a clean boot. Adjust the instructions in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3471054943/m/6171031163) as necessary for Win 2000. Strongly consider doing steps 1 through 5 and 7 through 9 under Overall Windows and Hard Disk Tune-up With Win XP, again adjusting as necessary for Win 2000.

2. Your Radeon 9700 Pro may not be playing nicely with Catalyst 5.12. Try installing Catalyst 3.8 and then Catalyst 4.12 if 3.8 doesn't help. Adjust the instructions in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3471054943/m/9071035163) as necessary for Win 2000.

Where did you see the reference to "Monitor Ben Q ATI Catalyst 5.4"? If you have Catalyst 5.4 installed anywhere in your system, uninstall it!

3. Update your sound driver to the latest version.

4. If you have these line items in your system BIOS, set them as follows:
-- a. Assign IRQ to VGA - Enabled
-- b. VGA palette snooping - Disabled
-- c. PCI Latency Timer - 128
-- d. Video BIOS Shadowing - Disabled
-- e. Video RAM Shadowing - Disabled
-- f. USWC Options - Disabled
-- g. PnP O/S Installed - Enabled
-- h. Video BIOS Cacheable - Disabled
-- i. Video RAM Cacheable - Disabled
-- j. AGP Graphics Aperture - 128 MB (or the next lowest available if 128 MB isn't an option)

5. If you haven't already done so, access the Catalyst Control Panel, and make some setting changes. Before changing anything, note what you started with, so that you can go back to those settings if desired. If they exist, set your menu choices as closely as possible to:
-- Anisotropic filtering (AF) and antialiasing (AA) 'off' or 'controlled by application'. If AF or AA optimization is a choice, set it to 'off' or 'none'.
-- Trilinear optimization to 'off', 'none', or 'controlled by application'.
-- Vertical sync to 'controlled by application' or 'off'.
-- Image setting midway between 'performance' and 'quality'.

6. Try running EoA using the Application Compatibility tool. See Description of the Application Compatibility Tool (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;251062).

7. Consider "upgrading" to Win XP professional Edition. Yeah, yeah, I know....

Also, if you have an AGP Fast Write option in your system BIOS, disable it. Enabling this setting if your system doesn't properly support it can cause problems, especially with games.
