I'm thinking of changing my 1 Gb of 233mhz to 2Gb of 400mhz, will that affect my game play?

Yes it will. This proggy has become a ram hungry little bugger since it's initial release.

it is not just IL2 all new games have to be played with a minimum of 2GB ram, it might sound like a lot of ram but it really aint when it comes to gaming

You may not see much difference from 1 to 2 gigs with FB/PF. But if you're implying your motherboard bus also has the ability to increase to 400mhz, that will help performance.

Generally, more RAM won't just make things faster. Adding extra RAM will actually slow your RAM access times by a little. Having too little RAM, however, can and will impact performance.

Going from a 233 mHz bus to 400 mHz bus, however, can give a pretty massive boost in performance... but just changing your RAM won't do it. *IF* you currently have a CPU and a motherboard that is designed to run at 266-400 mHz, but it's only running at 233 mHz because your RAM is too slow, then you'll see a HUGE performance increase by replacing your RAM and increasing the bus speed.

If your computer runs at 233 mHz, and you upgrade to 400 mHz RAM, you can still get a bit of a performance benefit by tightening up your RAM timings in the BIOS. It won't be a whole lot, though.

Pacific Fighters is a bit RAM hungry, as said. You'll probably get a little benefit by going from 1 to 2 gigs. Anything more probably won't have much effect.
