I was on speed566's server today, there were no plane icons. I shot you down because i thought you were in a yak or Mig. You also didn't have any markings on your plane. You were in a russion plane so i fired.
And no im not a freind killer, i rairly ever shoot down down freindly aircraft.
So pleas next time put some markings on your plane.

Apologizing for a kill /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

quite funny.

You where in a German plane I presume?

I think it`s cool, even if the victim may never see it here. Always apologise on server at time of incident. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I presume you were flying a German aircraft and shot down what looked like a Russian plane with no markings. Its nice that you apologize, but if I were in the same position I'd do the same thing. I'm not taking the risk on an unmarked plane. And I wouldnt say I was sorry. It would let him know to put markings on next round. I always make sure I have correct markings. Thats part of the game. Its to easy for an enemy pilot to try and pull one over on you like that. You run a risk of this very thing when you fly with no markings.

...and once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward,
for there you have been and there you long to return.

Very good Silent.

It shows you are one of the gentlemen in the sport

... a bit dangerous to the friendlies,

but a gentleman none-the-less.

Up the gents!

I tride to, but he just said freind killer and left.

If i were him i would have said, "hey you shot down a freindly aircraft". Then hit refly and see what the other say's..

Any way the server didn't have any rule's or guidlines. So any one joining wouln't realy no what was going on, unless they asked. Actualy it was supposed to be just a 1v1 fight atleast that is what it said when i joined the server.

Sht happens and live gose on.

This thread reminds me of the times (the golden age IMHO) when everyone said "S" when shot down and the victor would respond with the same courtesy.

yup. Good of you to apologise. Was it one of those servers where the markings/planes combinations used on each side are a mystery and no-one speaks to you? I was on one ages ago, got two team kills, made my apologies and left (before I was booted in all probability).

There's none of that on our friendly FI servers, right Falcon? And Homer Simpson flies for us, see below.

Up the manners!

Well if it makes you feel any better, instances of friendly fire, where a friendly plane was actually downed did happen in W.W.II but most of the time it rsulted in only damage.

There's a legal term called "Assumption Of Risk."

When you fly in the manner of your enemy in a hostile environment, you have invited someone to shoot you down.

You should have said, "sorry I shot you down, but you brought it on yourself, dumba$$."

Hey Silent!!!! Shooting down friendly aircraft is supposed to be my error!!!! What gives?!!!! Actually Silent, what Skychimp is trying to say is that if the other guy flew without markings, he assumes some (if not all) of the risk. Just like in real war, sometimes there are friendly fire incidents in this game. The few times I've made such a mistake, I've owned up to it right away and did my best to correct the errors.

I've always known you to be an honorable flyer. I make this statement, not because you are part of the dog-eared 310th, but because it's just a fact sir!!! Remember Silent, it's not your shooting skills that are so deadly, it's your spelling!!!!

See you in HyperLobby

Ok i understand that part, it makes sence. Basicaly dont fly planes that represent the other side or you will get shot down.

Ok, I know and you guys know i didnt have time to say "sorry".

But when you said "you brought it on yourself, dumba$$". You were actualy saying that the guy i shot down brought it on himself.

Ok i hope i have this right.

A simple "Sorry, but put some crosses on A$$hole" would have been enough(with or without the last word).
And yes what that guy did was practically suicide, no matter he encountered you or an enemy.

Actualy it wasn't you, it wasn;t a german plane, but it would have been cool if it was you.

All night have not seen any icons. It took me all night to figure out why i coulnt' see any icons. Erlier in the day i ran a campain with no icons. These setting must of cairied over some how. I mapped joystick button 7 to change icon typ's.

Yup, that solved the proublom.

of course, in the good old days, instead of a 'S' you would have gotten a 'OPEN YOUR #$%^ EYES U $%^& N00B TKILLER!!!' for killing a friendly.

so quitcher dreaming, Smokster.

Silent shows good intent. whoever he shot down doesn't necessarily deserve an apology of this magnitude, the way it's told.
