I've been absent lately and just noticed the new release which combines IL2-FB-AEP-PF all on one DVD. Since I recently reloaded my entire PC I am dreading installing all 6 CDs and the dozens of patches in just the right order. Twice if I want the stand-alone and merged loads...needless to say I am leaning towards getting the new edition.

So is it a simple thing to install or will I still have to load four separate games and all the various patches and only save the time and effort of swapping CDs? What will the final rev be, 4.04?

yup you put it in and it installs everything up to 4.04 in one go, from what those that have it say http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

as for all the patches if you install from cd, you only need to put the ones on after PF as the ones between FB, AEP and PF are installed as part of the next CD.......

The new edition is not released in the US but GoGamers.com do import it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the reply, that is good news to me, and Oleg has not received any of my money in a while. Is there a scheduled/planned release for US markets?

Maybe if the North American market vociferously demands the DVD, Ubi will relent and sell it here ... but otherwise I think we're being shut out intentionally. Perhaps it was weak sales of PF and the other individual packs that lead to this decision; perhaps it had something to do with a certain American military aviation conglomerate and a rumored backroom deal ... Who knows?

The DVD will bring you up to 4.04m --> that little 'm' is very important. The DVD won't allow you to install individual components like Forgotten Battles 'standalone' or Pacific Fighters 'standalone.' For good or bad, you're stuck with the merged version. Fortunately you have all the CD-ROMs so you can install FB/AEP and PF as you see fit.

By the way, you said you weren't looking forward to installing the six disks. You really don't need IL-2 Sturmovik for the merged series, so that would bring you down to a very managable 5 discs. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The complete DVD does a merged install in one go up to version 4.04m. It doesn't give the option to have a standalone PF install or a standalone FB or FB/AEP install. You get the lot or nothing.

As you have all the discs anyway, you could install partial installs if you wished but for those considering the complete DVD as a way to have both standalone PF and merged, this isn't an option.

S! Dino,
The only place I have found in the US is at gogamer.com (http://www.gogamer.com/cgi-bin/GoGamer.storefront/44f3a68601eddc38273fd0fedee20742/Product/View/001IL2C)
They have two types of shipping. A Fed Ex Two day thats around $6.00 and a five day that is $1.99. They do not ship to Canada, however,in a previous post they mentioned some contacts up North. Good luck, and Fly with Honor!

I bought mine several months ago from GoGamer just when I had to do a reinstall and gratefully thanked myself for sparing myself the complicated, laborious multi-disk reinstall. Likely I'll toss all those disks and just keep the printed manuals. Something to consider---they may do a real COMPLETE after the last three add-ons are released so, maybe, best advised to wait a few months.

Then it would be called the Ultimate or Platinum or Uber or 'Planet' Pluto last version... or..... ...

Would be nice, only then will I buy it, I was thinking about getting the complete edition, going to wait and see whats on the horizon after the other two add-ons are released.

It's worth getting just to save the trouble of a new install...

It should (IMHO) never have been called the Ultimate Collection, the should have just called it the Complete addition (as it's also known). We now have 2 titles for it, and no good name if they ever decide to release an edition incorporating the "Pe2", "Manchuria", and "'46", add-ons: It will have to be "Uber"!
