I installed 1946 (got it on eBay from goGamer). I uninstalled the old (I had up to PE2 installed). I now have a folder under "program files" called "Ubi Soft" that has "IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles" in it, and another folder "Ubisoft" (no space or caps)that has the new stuff in it. I cannot delete the forst one, no matter what, it says "access denied" is this the ghost of the dreaded boonty box? Ha!

Quite simply, 46 was not intended to be an add-on to FB or PF, and it installs into it's own folder, completely seperate from FB or PF<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Actually it works fine as an add-on. I installed mine by directing it to my existing installation folder. All my missions, skins, on-going campaigns & so on were present after the install. I had to re-edit conf.ini to deal with chatter and hud log settings, as well as re-configure stick settings. But I would have done all that anyway in the light of the changes in the joystick code.

The easiest way to deal with it Skeet is to uninstall everything, then delete the Ubisoft folder from Program Files, and Ubi.com if it's there. Run a Reg Cleaner and remove any residual entries. Then reboot, run a defrag, reboot again and reinstall.
Obviously, don't delete Ubisoft first. Make sure to run the uninstall first.

I never said that 46 could not work as an add-on or that you should not use it that way

I said it was not intended to be used as one. Obviously, since it contains everything from FB to 4.07, and it installs to an entirely diffrent folder than previous versions, it is intended to stand alone.

He asked a question about the different folders, and I told him why this was so, that's all<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hey Chris, ease up on me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif
I was just saying that it can be an add-on as easily as it can be a stand-alone. Two different methods, equally viable, is all I'm talking about.

Cheers
