For those who dont visit the other forums I have copied this here.
It covers aspects of the game, hardware and windows and I hope it will be useful

As Luckyboy has said so well in another thread

"The non-gaming men 30-50 years old may not have the patients it takes to get this game up and running, but they do have the mindset to play the game once they get it running. We need to try and help... "

I have been thinking along the same lines and about how technical this game is becoming.
So in order to pull a lot of information into one place and then to try to explain how things work together simply I have put together a guide called IL2 Optimisation.

This can be found here
http://www.airwarfare.com/guides.htm

It is an expansion of a post I did a while ago in page 2 of this thread

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=49310655&m=314103891&p=2

This is meant to complement the other pieces of information available, especially Luckyboys guide and I hope that it will be helpful.

I dont expect this to be able to cover everything or to be perfect so if you spot any mistakes or if you have any comments or suggestions then please e-mail me -there is an address in the guide.

I would especially appreciate any further info on the config.ini file

by the way KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid Veryhappy

Many thanks go to euro-snoopy for including it on his site.

It looks great, thank you! (I just read the FW-190 advice and it was spot on)

Looking good!

A few errors here and there. Most notably the way you define hard drives. You speak of RAID and Serial ATA, but you mean (Ultra) ATA and Serial ATA. RAID is a disk array, not a type of hard drive. I'll email you my finds.

Now all you need to do is convert it to html, and you're good to go.

He's talking about the IL2 Optimisation guide; not the FW-190 Tactics guide.

Are all the 30-50 yr old men who play this game doctors? Wow. What an amazing demographic.

WOWZA....thanks to whoever wrote the FW tactics.

Now this is what Ive been looking for all along. If we could have a tactics guide like this for every plane/IL2 would be heaven. But we dont and instead I feel lost.I still am wondering what is the difference of an F4U and a Corsair. Not too mention all the other planes in game I have no idea about.

Thanks again,
Dale

Thanks for replies

Infernal

Look forward to getting that info.

I know that these are in word and excell but are still works in progress - once Ive got some feedback and fleshed them out then Ill look into converting them to html.

Apologies for the problem with excell. Didnt realise that excel was a problem but seems to be for a couple of people so Iv converted the config section into a rich text form which you can read in notepad-just need to tidy it up and once Im happy with it Ill see if eurosnoopy will host this.-should be ready in a few days as unfortunatly the sim Real Life is eating into my spare time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There is no difference between the Corsair and the F4Us. The name Corsair was used by the RAF - the planes are the same.

I know this just because I asked exactly the same question as you in this forum.
