Posting here, because no one is gonna see my post in the feedback thread. So maybe more people can provide their input:

So I've tried my hand at redesigning the website. Here's a vid:

The goals of the redesign were:
Condense the content.
Remove unnecesary elements.
Get people to the fun stuff ASAP (no scrolling needed)
Make it look better.

I created a number of mockups while I was getting to the last iteration

This is the final iteration of the design :

Here's another good variant in my opinion:

Here's a gallery of mockups.

Also, between the navbar and the blog posts we can put 3 things:

1:The trailer for the game.
2: The poll.
3: The "Register now" button.

1&2 should be hideable (We can use localStorage to save the settings for hiding the poll, so we don't have to mess with WP's backend)

And 3 should dissapear for logged in users.

Though Imo, I would consider using blog posts for polls. It makes the most sense imo, and allows to free up the layout.

The Language selection link should be converted to look like a Flag of either UK/US and Germany. It would make it easier for people to change the language.

Also Agmas added 2 cool ideas:

A Media section should be added, where all the videos of the game released so far are available, as well as some screenshots.

Also a mockup of how we should show the "Recent Posts" in the blog posts.
Adding a picture would make things a lot prettier and easier to navigate (ofc it needs a bit of styling)

I strongly agree the site needs to be changed. I do like your idea about removing the subscribe stuff if you are already logged in, same would probably go with the introduction video, you only need that big on the website for people which just heard about anno union. For the players who have been there longer, some sort of media tab can be profided where they can find those videos and maybe even pictures. I think that the comments should indeed get moved to the forums, since the forums are for detailed discussions about the games. Maybe it would be possible to provide a link section with the most read/commented threads? It would allow people to react on hot topics, and since they are hot, people probably think that idea is interesting. I read every forum post, but lots of people don't...

Is it also possible to allow voting to be done in that specific topic? Voting on something without reading the topic does not make much sense... That would be like the poll function on the forums, of you can use the forums for the poll, it would remove that big box on the side. I agree that it ain't needed when you have already voted (other then seeing the voting results).

I also have another suggestion: woud it be possible to sort the blogs either by lining or the current boxes? I think it's hard to find the topic you need atm when you have to scroll down quite a bit, this would allow people to have less scrolling when looking for a specific subject/blogpost.

I think Ray's design looks better, but there are still improvements needed on that ^^

Adding filtering and sorting is a whole different level of complexity. It honestly depends on how the website is put together, but either way it would be take quite a bit of time to add. The union website itself is something the BB developers are doing off their own back (if I recall correctly, I think Basti mentioned it), so I doubt they want to be fiddling around implementing a complex feature.

Polish and design is one thing that is relatively easier to add and change, especially once you have the ground work in (which they do, the Anno Union site it still a highly detailed and well put together website at its foundation), and it doesn't require any major feature rewrites or additions, just some tweaking (for the most part anyway).

Please add a report function to the website, so we can directly report comments, like here at the forums. It's more so people which can't directly contact/ping moderators/administrators can report comments from others :)

pinging via Discord is faster though, and since it happened twice in a few weeks now, I think this is a needed thing to keep the website safe

Edit:
Please also make a new comments button, so you can check all unread comments for the max of one week.
Make the links directly go to the corresponding comments, so we don't have to search every time
Add captcha to prevent bot posting (meda's idea)

I think all these features will add to better quality of the union site (and the quality of the posts ^^)

I do have a screenshot of what happened, I am just not willing to share to publicly and only to staff and/or people I trust ^^

Wow I am impressed with the amount of effort you put into the mockups and feedback regarding our webdesign Raydoovah. Seriously, thanks for that feedback and your suggestions.
We are currently working on a bigger update but there is no ETA we can share with you right now. Beside expanded functionality, I can tease that visual redesign is an important point on our to-do list. As you pointed out in your video, we waste too much space and want to improve the general user experience.

Thank you for your reply... When will we know what has been changed for the website or do we have to find that out ourselves?
