Good for youhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif What are your system specs? Also, what differences have you noticed? I ask this because I was also thinking about getting another 512 stick.

Totaly agree. I had 512 MB of RAM and it was practicaly imposible to play online if there were more then 10 players on the server. Game constantly freezes trying to assecc page file on the harddrive. 1 gig of RAM makes big difference.

Dont wait for FPS increase though...

The immediate benefit you will notice is in loading times. On the opening screen you'll see it go from 0 % to loading the Main Menu faster than on 512mb memory. Missions and campaigns using the large Gulf of Finland map will be enjoyable now without the long load times as it loads the map, objects, aircraft etc.

and I'm stuck at 512m http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif . Damned laptop with limited memory.

Anybody know if laptop motherboards can be modded to accept more memory? Or even how I'd be able to do that?

online with 512 ram i had big pauses on some maps.got a lot better with 768 ram (some guys will tell you thats all you need )with 1024 ram no pauses (other than the normal spawn lag) and loading times are much quicker.go for it ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I went from 512 to 1024 back in the days of the original IL-2.

Was playing on an old 440 mx card at the time and rightfully blamed a lot of my problems on that card.

What a pleasent surprise to find that lot of my stutter disappeared by adding more ram. As many have said also, not staring at your screen thinking "load already will you " is a good thing.

..............................
I always have just enough fuel to arrive at the scene of my crash.

I play with 1024 mb. Then pulled out one stick, downgrading to 512 just to check that mem for errors ( it had none ) but I couldn`t really notice any difference from 1 gb ram over 512.

weird ...

running 1184 @ perfect 4x fsaa etc

P4 2.4 Gig, Soltek MR85 MoBo, ATI 9600 XT, Soundblaser Audigy and ..... 1 gig of RAM http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I had alot of pauses especially online. The biggest test was setting up a quick mission with 4 Pe-8 bombers at 100 meters with the 5000 kg bomb. When you damage a Pe-8 enough they drop the bomb and the bast kills the whole formation.

With 512mb of ram the bomb would hit , I get a second or 2 pause before everything blew up.

1 gig of ram , smooth as silk.

I also noticed alot of pausing in the begining of a mission, these are now gone.
