I found infos about an expansion for IL:FB, coming out in Feb 2004. Here's the link
http://www.pcgameworld.com/story.php/id/2691/

This one is developed by GMX Media, so I guess we'll get 2 expansion pack?!

So Maddox ditched UBI and has a new publisher now?

I dunno, i'm quite confused because looks like GMX got the contract for the expansion pack "Combat over Europe". Also, I found out there is another expansion pack "Ace expansion" published by UbiSoft. So is Combat Over Europe published by Ubi or not? Is there 2 expansion packs? And that's strange that both expansion packs have the same release date and same amount of new campaigns.

A moderator should make a Sticky post and clear all that.

OOPS If they did I can see us getting moderated for talking about it. Just like talking about the leaked Beta. Then to top it off have someone getting miffed at UBI and realeasing the code. Hmm I dought that they switched.

Nobody told me, I just read the FACTS on official websites. Including GMX media (details )and pcgameworld (details + release date). The details from "Combat Over Europe" are very similar to those from the Maddox expansion. Same release date, same amount of new campaigns... This is confusing, and there's a lot less detail about "Ace Expansion" if you do a research.

Here is the facts:

GMX Media announced last week that it will be publishing Combat Over Europe, an add-on for developer 1C Company's (and Ubisoft published) highly rated combat flight sim IL-2 Sturmovik: The Forgotten Battles.

Aiming for a February 2004 release, Combat Over Europe will have eight new campaigns, five of which are Luftwaffe orientated, while the remainder require climbing into RAF and US aircraft. Online co-op missions also make an appearance, with four dogfight maps so you can host scenarios like the Battle of Britain or D-Day.

And sharing the wealth continues... as well as historical news footage and 15 training tracks, there's a sizeable PDF document on air combat, cockpit guides, even takeoff and climb performance charts. Everything the PC combat sim fan in your family might want this Christmas, hmmmmm?

On the pcgameworld website : You get details about the campaigns --> http://www.pcgameworld.com/story.php/id/2691/

"Combat over Europe" has been coming for a while

this i not the first time it has been "announced" here at this forum

it is NOT the expansion to FB

it IS an add-on but not from Maddox games .... that one is called "ACES" , its gay but who cares

UBI's "Ace Expansion" is the Real Thing, a new FB, with totally new flyable and AI airplane types. "Europe Expansion" is only a mission CD, but hopefully has new maps but they are probably just western Euro. A good 200km square map alone would be worth 40$.

OK, I hope you're right because 50% of the new campaigns in "Combat Over Europe" aren't appealing to me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Isn't the Europe thing Luthiers work? Just a bunch of missions and whatnot? I hope it does not have new maps independent of any Maddox release. That would make online play a bit of a mess since I'm not buying it. Then again, the Ace expansion could do the same thing--but I'm buying that one.
