S!

Like the title says, I'm in love with the P-47. But I've got a few questions for you jug pilots out there...

What variant is the best for speed and roll/manuevering (they all aren't too good for that, but do any have a slight edge over the others?). Are they all armored the same?

Also, I hear that a lot of jug pilots want the P-47N...what makes this one so much better?

Thanks in advance,

Rall (Hutch51 on UBI.com)

I do share your love too, however Im just a novice when it comes to all its varints.I know one thing for sure I love to have extra ammo and set my fuel cell down to 50%.When I do a qmb and the BF's are comin I go high side and roll in behind em.then.. well its a$$ kickin time.THe p-47 has more punch then a bowl of jucice.HHAHHA those are my thoughts

The D-10 is more agile. The D-27 has more loadout options. And I think is armored better.

The D-27 is better in locked pit servers IMHO.

The D-10 can stay in the air for an hour on 25% fuel. The water injection lasts for forty minutes. I don't know about the others. ( I read that on these boards )

I think the D-27 has a higher dive speed.

I use the D-10. Others with more experience will have better answers than me.

The D-10 and D-27 are the better maneuvering variants. I prefer the D-10. Climb to 11,000 and you own the sky!!! Good luck with your new ride!

I think the D-10 is the best of the lot for air-to-air. D-22 is a close second. D-27's roll rate is borked too badly for it to be competetive in dogfighting.

I'm not in the same high class as some others out there, but my usual ride for A-A engagements is the P-47D-10. The razorback gives you a bit more protection, at the expense or rear veiw if you're in the cockpit.

The P-47N. It outperformed the D series in every way, including roll and speed, two of the Jugs best strengths to begin with. Here's a couple of links.

http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~wingman/p47.html An overview of P-47 production variants.

http://home.att.net/~Historyzone/Seversky-Republic8.html This is chapter 8 of an 8 chapter article on the Jug, it's develpement, and reasons for design direction. 8 mainly deals with the P-47N developement, and compares it to the P-47D series.

Good hunting,

Yes. The D-27 is a bubble-top while the D-10 is a razorback. You shouldn't have a hard time finding them(if you have FB,that is.)http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

IMO the only advantage you have with the 27 is better visibility. The D10 is the much better handling AC in FB.
