Greetings UQMG users in the IL-2 Community,

I wanted to show you the progress of a feature that I have had countless requests for. Now that my work in UQMG is very much finished after 3+ years (all maps and features), I am going to go back and deliver a few more things that have been on the backburner. It will be accessible from the Flight Editor, and it will, of course, be loadable and savable in the "uqmg" mission data files. It will be operational in Upgrade0008 for UQMG; no dates yet, there is a bit of work ahead. Anyway I'll let the picture do the Talking.

Wow. You read my mind UberDemon. I didn't know someone had already requested this feature and was thinking to myself yesterday I wish there was a way to do this. Thank you very much and I'm looking forward to it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Uberdemon, is that you in the pilot skin pic? Someone posted that you were Brazillian, and I see the Jambok plane skin, soooo.

Oh well, not important. I just wanted to know what the creator of my favorite IL2 utility looks like http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Great job my friend, i use your program since the 1st version!

BTW, one of the greatest responsables for the P-47 build in FB is Mr. Uberdeamon. He show us how to make this dream come true http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

[I posted this below at SimHQ, so I thought I'd share it here too. I include some personal responses as well.]

Just to let you know, the picture is not a prototype. It is already incorporated in my working version of UQMG. The mission generation part is not working yet but all of the parsing of correct skin directories and previewing is working. The time saving-utilities should become quite popular.

With a single click you can put everything at defaults, you have some easy flexibility as to skills etc...

For example, you can have a balanced skill level for the flight where both the Flight and 2nd element leaders have higher skill than the wingmen; and this is based on the Aircraft 1.

Another feature is the Pilot skin selection. After you scroll down 50 files to select a pilot, you can quickly copy the same pilot for other aircraft, or you can generate a series, for example:

German Pilot 1 in AC1
German Pilot 2 in AC2
German Pilot 3 in AC3
German Pilot 4 in AC4

This is done in a sec, and it saves you time scrolling for every pilot.

You can set all AC skins to match first plane...

And of course you can quickly randomize all features. All these are operational.

The challenge will be the Clones, but it should be a great feature once it is complete.

* rummyrum, Kanno, HuninMunin, Bearcat99, wayno7777, 310th Falcon, woofiedog,

Thank you very much. Most of the requests I got by E-mail; but you can thank Avatar and DOM at the SimHQ for constantly reminding me they wanted it. You can also thank Shift_E, the QMT creator for all the support he has given me. I never really thought I'd include this ability in UQMG, but I liked what he did in QMT so much that I thought... hmm this may be a good addition. I ended up writing the code by myself even though he offered me to provide me his code after he discontinued QMT; I figured I needed the challenge. But I did like how he had all aircraft available in one shot so you could edit all at the same time, so I must give Shift_E No.1 credit for my inspiration.

* tsisqua,

Yep, born and raised in Brazil. But you can call me a citizen of the world these days. I call Texas my home... ya'll. No that is not my picture... I am shrouded in mistery, but I am much better looking than that fellow... and ARGGHH, AAAAHHH, HHAAAh AAACCK... sorry, I almost choked in my own hot air... he he.

* Jambock__01,

Caro colega, claro que sao as skins do Jambock! Ainda nao conseguimos convencer o Oleg a adicionar o regimento br01 brasileiro no IL-2... Quem sabe quando colocarem o mapa da Italia.

Hey Extreme_One... Actually, you could possibly use UQMG as a tool for Static Campaign Creation. For example, take the African map, you could generate a mission with the elements you want, then you can edit the mission in the FMB with the modifications you want, as long as you are not selling it... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Actually, haven't you been creating some dynamic campaigns for DCG? Have you tried creating dynamic campaigns for DGen and NGen?

You're absolutley right Uberdemon - I did consider this a while ago.

The only thing that stopped me (please don't take this as a critiscm - you can probably educate me too) is that the missions are generated from a template right - so each mission would be too similar to the last with regards to your flight's wayoints. OK I could edit them but then the timings would probably be out for interceptions etc...

I mean if I made a campaign for a Spitfire pilot, for arguments sake, using the Normandy map (again for arguments sakehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) then no matter what enemy planes and other allied planes I used, the waypoints generated for the players flight would be pretty much the same each time right?

I might be way-off the mark here but in my experiments with creating custom UQMG missions this appears to be the case.

You are correct.

Each "Mission Type" is a template. So As far as the waypoints, they are similar. The only thing you'd be able to do would be to actually drag the waypoints to the locations you want. May still be better than creating from scratch, since they already have the plane, skill, etc settings you want. Same applies to the clones. Although you can have countless clones, a typical mission won't have that many, so you would just drag the clones as well...

Not sure how much help UQMG really is for campaign building... probably not much... but from the beginning, I wanted people to be able to edit the UQMG generated missions from the FMB if they so desired, that is why there is a Cache of last missions generated.

You can't really do that with the QMB. The mission templates for QMB are imbedded in the encrypted files so it is loaded into memory with the parameters you select. I wanted to do more with those missions, so I took that into consideration when I created UQMG. (I mean, there is a way, but it involves tinkering with a track file.)

So how much work goes into creating a DCG template? or a DGen template?

Extreme_One

Actually I haven't created a DGen or DCG template mate.

What made you think I have?

Hey Uberdemon, love your work, that's why I credited you at the end of my movie "Secret Weapon over Stalingrad". I've been t your site and checked out the latest upgrade (0007), have you an eta on the 0008 version? Obviously I'm looking forward to it, again thanks for your community support, cheers, Neil.

Mysticpuma2003,

Where can I find that video? I'd like to watch it. How big is it? I hope to release 0008 soon... BTW, as of now it is fully operational, but I need to work on some kinks due to composite planes and random clone planes. It will not be possible to control the skins for all composite flights, unfortunately (for example Tug+Glider) however I think I can make it work for at least one of the flights in a composite flight, say the Tug only.
