After many hours of working and gaming, my Iiyama (CRT 21 inch .24 dot-pitch) 3 year old flat screen monitor did blowup last night when I tried to switch it on, so now I am using my old not so flat screen Iiyama (CRT 21 inch .28 dot-pitch) monitor, and I can tell you my son which was the current owner of this older monitor is not happy with that, so lets by a new one fast!

I am leaning toward a new CRT from SONY or NEC but maybe a TFT would be nice, but I am still wary of the update speeds in my FPS games I am however almost convinced for my FSIM games.

So my question is do any you FSIM guys have any suggestions for me for buying a new one CRT or TFT with a minimum size of a round 20 to 22 inch and a .24 or better dot-pitch.

I picked up a viewsonic 21 in RFR are still too low at 1600X1200 for me but other resolutions are high enough. I need 100 rfr or I get headaches so it limits my viewing size

Flatpanel (TFT/LCD screens) is not suited to games yet. The resolution is dependant on the size of the screen you get (a 15in LCD is 1024x768) and its image quality is extremely poor in any other resolution. They also have slower update times (there is no refresh rate, however, the pixels update themselves when needed) for each pixel so games where things tend to be fast moving...you will notice streaking (to a small or large extent based on game and quality of the LCD).

For the moment, the best (and cheapest) choice is still trusty old CRT. Probably be like that for a few more years.
