This weekend there will be an airshow in Louisville KY.

The part that they don't tell you is how there will be NO static* air show again this year due to Homeland Security or whatever.

Craptastic move Louisville, and thank you terrorists.

* static air show = go to the air field and look at the planes on the ground.

I think i'm going to skip the show and take a cooler over to the airfield. I know of a nice knoll where you can get a good view of the take-offs/landings.

The air show itself is downtown. I don't want to deal with the traffic.

Don't blame you a bit m8, take-offs & landings are the tricky part anyhow right http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The traffic speaks for itself. Do you live in KY Baldie?

My base, Dover AFB is having an air show in middle May. All types of static aircraft, plus the air force Thunderbirds, B-2 flyovers, and paprachute teams. We had one 2 years ago where you could see the f-117 stealth bomber, 20 feet away gaurded by SP's. I had to say that seeing an f-14 fly really low over you is amazing...amazingly loud. My only complaint was that a bunch of f-15s would fly right over my barracks and set off car alarms and severely rattle windows.

I live in Louisville and I have to tell you , the "no static line because of homeland security" really sucks !!
On the brightside , I live about a mile from Louisville International Airport ( I work there too). All day I've been watching planes flying around practicing for the big event . Just a second ago I saw an A-10 Warhog , a P-51D Mustang , and an F-18 Hornet flying in a three plane "vic" formation .
Cool !!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nice! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif How many times a year do they perform?

Just once a year .
We have a big horse race called The Kentucky Derby . It's on the first Saturday in May . An event called Thunder Over Louisville starts the Derby festivities , usually about two to three weeks before the race. The planes are part of an airshow that is included in Thunder Over Louisville . There is also a huge fireworks display , one of the largest in the nation .

Yes, I am from Louisville . I'm still here as a matter of fact .
Today is the big airshow , "Thunder Over Louisville".
So far I've seen about 8 A-10 Warthogs , a KC-130 Tanker , a few F-18 Hornets , an F-15 Eagle , a P-51D Mustang , and an F4 Phantom .
I think there is going to be a fly-by with the B-2 Stealth bomber and the F-117 Stealth fighter . Last year the B-1 bomber did a fly-by and it was EARTH SHAKING !!!!!
Perfect weather today for an airshow . Ceiling unlimited with the high temperature in the low 80s .

I'm happy just to sit on my roof and watch them fly over my house .
