1 Lots of criticism of FB flight modelling, muzzle flare etc

2 known fact that Combat FS3 is a bit of a joke,no flat spins etc

question:how do flight models compare in each product for similar planes, anybody done any tests?

FB rocks, great product!

Should be moved to genereal forum. Very loaded question.

However, as for flight models. Out of the Box CFS3 sucks compared to FB.

However, there are third party flight models made for CFS3 which supposedly are within 1% accuracy of their real life counter parts.

Yet I'd argue that no other sim has given me this "feeling of flight" that FB has. Perhabs a well made CFS3 flight model can actually replicate test numbers better - like max speed, climbrate, stall speed, whatever - but it still feels like you are flying "numbers" not a real dynamic representation of a plane.

Both approaches have their merits.

Yep. Apparently out of the box CFS3 flight models are a relative joke as far as accuracy goes although I bet it does make many people happy as it probably does conform more to the expected performance of an aircraft rather than actual performance. Its all in the perception mind you.

FB has an actual physics engine at work although that has its drawbacks too.

At least the CFS3 version of the P47 actually has a working altimeter. <GDR>

I agree wholeheartedly! (playing IL-2/FB and played CFS3)
