has anyone else noticed how when playing campaigns (or quick mission) now when AI planes land they disappear after a very short time?

i know this always used to happen - but after a much longer period - if i didn't engage many planes in the air then a good consolation used to be following planes back to their landing strip and strafing any that had landed.....as they used to hang around for at least 5 minutes or so after landing

now they seem to dissappear almost as soon as they've parked up... meaning i can no longer indulge in strafing planes on the ground /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

i wonder if this is a trade off for crashed planes burning for alot longer ?

has anyone else noticed this - i'm sure it's only happened since the patch - but i could be mistaken.

Yes, it's a feature of the patch.

And a retrograde step, IMO./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I noticed that an He-111 ran me over from behind while I was taxiing to the park area, so everything hasn't changed. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif

Yes this is makes getting to home base alive from a mission less exciting and fulfilling, because I know the airfield scene will disappoint me with this illogical vanishing act.

If it's done to save CPU cycles and lower the prob % of planes ramming each other, it's a good thing.

It's an immersion killer IMHO. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

The reason behind the vanishing is to credit kills for planes that were damaged seriously enough I believe. i.e. you get an IL-2 badly smoking, he barely makes it home and the plane is really a right-off. Once he disappears you should get credited with the kill if you were the one who crippled him.

I agree, it might have gone too far in terms of how fast they disappear, but I don't think it rises to the level of an immersion killer. Now the cartwheeling AI OTOH, that's just a PITA!

yeah i did kinda put these two things together soon after i noticed they disappeared quicker - however it would definitely be better IMO if the ones that got back to base stayed for a bit longer.

Err yes .../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif ??

actually I had this problem before the patch, but seemingly not on every mission. One mission I created I suddenly noticed planes disappearing as they were taxiing (after landing).

Yes please...bring back the landed AI planes for a while (5 - 10 minutes should be enough )
