Hopefully one day the climate will change on this board, but as things are presently, I'd rather go to a dentist than continue to endure the level of offense that is regarded as normal around here.

Still has a ways to go and it may never get there, but it's not all bad.

I think the cure is for everyone to spam the boards with interesting facts, anecdotes, charts and intriguing subjects. For every inflamatory post, everyone ought to get together and write 4 interesting ones http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Good idea.

Most of the negative input seems to come from a dozen or so hi-profile posters. Perhaps they can't enjoy the process without a little conflict, or maybe they take views different than theirs as a personal affront. You have to pick your threads based on the quality of input and ignore the rest.

Its not too too bad here. Try a really popular FPS game or a RTS game and you'll have all the arguments and problems here plus alot of racial generalizations, slangs, and plain derogatory stuff getting tossed around.

You see little of that...most conflicts here are at the very least somewhat articulated.

Compare this forum to other video game forums, and you will see that it is head and shoulders above the rest.

There are people that come in the forums and think the rules do not apply to them, or, do not even bother to read them to begin with. (Again, some, even if they read them, would not care.)

Others, like badaboom.1 up there, will gladly realize their evil ways (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif) and correct them.

Most people here are very good people. People I would love to have as a neighbor. (Hey, I have a room here in Houston for rent. Heh.)

The "climate" has changed here, and it will only get better. I believe the good people here are finally, and completely, tired of the nonsense.

As mentioned, even as it stands now, though, it is still better than many other forums out there.

Some might find that funny, but some don't...

In the P-51 war winning thread someone said "your national-socialist buddies" or something to that extend to Huck because of their disagreement. I don't see the humor of that either.

It may be that 90% of posts are friendly enough, but its that 10% which goes too far. I still think that accusing people of nazi sympathies on a Ubi board makes UBI liable for accepting slander, since they, through their rules of conduct are finally accountable for the content.

Most of the people here hide behind a "nick", very few do not...

I don't mind discussions, but there is a fine line and here its being crossed. Its easy to hide behind a nick, its even easier to hide behind several...

I post under my real name, with or without my old WB nick. Yes, I am offended and hurt when I am falsely accused of anti-american sentiments (based on a couple of non political posts?), bigotry (yes you arcadeace), nazi-sympathies and even of posting under different names.

I was also called "german" simply because I wrote about the Luftwaffe pov. Its like "we" are all "euro-pacifict-nazi-sympathizers" in the eyes of some on this board. I don't even post in these BS quasi-political posts...

Not everyone accepts this "acid talk" as light hearted punter.

Face its, this IS an international community with different mores and the moderators should act upon that.

Its about respect.

Ruy Horta

PS. as for other boards being worse.
1. this is a company board, not a free one
2. this is supposed to be a sim crowd, somewhat more mature than the general FPS players
3. discuss, not abuse - this is why there are moderators.

I have to say that I think things have gotten a little better conduct-wise and interest-wise. There was just a long thread where the issue of icons was discussed and almost all of it was very civil. I admit to some blatant trolling on occasion, but it was because things were getting so boring here that I figured I'd say something to get a rise out of people. But I try not to start or get involved in the type of thing mentioned above.

People around here should know by now that posting something like "The P-51 won the war" threads are only gonna start fights. Unless it's Goose who posted the same thing as a joke. Then it's funny to watch people who don't get it get their nickers in a twist over it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Milo, I find BOTH remarks disgusting and that's the godhonest truth.

BTW, is it easier to refer to me by my login name, rhorta, my real name, I mean the one I live with as a human being of flesh, blood and yes even feelings: Ruy Horta?

Is it so much easier to hide behind a PC and nick, thinking of outwitting others in a game or word play.

On this board the idea of "if you are not for us, you are against us" is going too far. It feels like a pack of dogs have tasted blood and now they have started they cannot stop.

This is actually a quite serious problem and few seem to understand it. These are SERIOUS accusations, not friggin lighthearted jokes.

You'd rather post your self-righteous 'final' statement here against all the members you've offended and have given it back to you. This is becoming a habit with you. Just one of numerous occasions ending in frustration.

You've entered so many times with your mature reasoning, always determined towards one end; equating the allies with the axis. You've been above it all and those of us who don't agree with your facts are judged not having correct composure, to put it politely. Never mind the past few days, your primary purpose as a member has been political/idiological debate.

Numerous members have been offended by you. The thread you started before this one ended against your 'reasonable' approach - it was locked! In the judgment of the Mod, rightfully so, it had no place here, period. And your composure in the P-51 thread? At least 2 of your posts were axed. My 'bigoted' reply was in response to one, with complete quotations. The Mod left it, and for damn good reason.

You're living in total self-denial. Your simply right, and you keep coming back and back driving your point, every angle you can possibly concieve. The end result: every one in the war is guilty; the allies (Americans in particular) are really not much different than the Nazis. And when loads of evidence comes back in your face, by and large you stand on German soil defending the cause.

Your obsessed with values of right and wrong, the opposite of many. You constantly twist what is upheld as honored and just, determined to delude its very essence. You can preach to others sit and be mature and in the end you're the one who loses it.

You're not gonna leave. You can't. Your bent on proving yourself. This forum isn't Il-2 FB, its your life's cause.

Not a single post of mine was ever deleted by a mod, I deleted my own posts of the last weeks since I was sick of this atmosphere of hate and would have deleted everything if I could have just to end my association with it all.

The mod closed my thread because he did not know how it started, we discussed the issue later.

No, you guys keep playing the "not for us, is against us..." game.

I mean you suddenly started calling me a bigot...for what, in a thread where I posted a comment about the difference between a Fighter-Bomber and a Schlachtflieger.

There was ONE post where I acted against better judgement and that had to do with Pearl Harbor and even there it was mainly level headed and unemotional (certainly not ANTI-anything, although by certain emotional characters taken as such).

Problem is that you lump people together in easy catagories. This lumping me in this easy corner is bull.

Subtelty is impossible here.

Enemies...that's all.

BTW...is this your sign of my bigotry?

BTW, I read that post of yours arcadeace and I am wondering if that's me you are writing about since I almost never include politics in my writings.

As for equating all sides, I often compare wartime acts, but you've never seen me equate sides as some here do almost daily (like comparing the Soviets and the Nazis, Stalin and Hitler - I simple do not). I do look critically upon what I judge to be my OWN (Allied) side, since most of us take that for granted.

You see me push comperative loss figures, performance figures, you see me post on Johnson and McGuire, on the difference between SGs and Fighter-Bombers, but these political/ideological threads they do not come from me.

Again you must be thinking I am writing under false names and projecting that unto me.

Just like Skychimp and his truthseeker. Hell, it even appeared you thought that other guy in the P-51 thread was me too...

I am wondering what is going on here since it sure as hell has little to do with my Luftwaffe posts.

And yes, after this thread dries up (or is closed by the Mod - sorry to them too) I will stop pestering the rest of the community, to which I apologize.

EDIT: ElAurens, badaboom.1 knew I was just kidding with him, but really trying to help. Maybe a winkie would have helped after the first sentence to him. So that you know I am just kidding with you, here is an extra winky for you... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
