Yes this is an OFFICIAL WHINE btw.
I have noticed a lot more sound sonar than before. This is pretty disappointing to say the least. I thought this was an area that had been repaired. I hear gunfire from everywhere now and do not hear anything when rounds strike my own aircraft. Anyone else with these problems?
Was this patch beta tested?

This is a re-occuring problem but it doesn't always happen on all systems. Nobody has been able to nail it down so far...could be a certain driver set, hardware combo...etc.

I agree but what surprises me is that the sonar sound was fixed for myself a long time ago and now it's back. Also the rounds striking the aircraft was an issue addressed a ways back. Maybe even before AEP, I can't remember. I have heard from many others and squadmates that they are having the same problems. Thats not a good thing.

We had 10+ guys on comms last night, all reporting sounds issues that were not present in 2.01

Something has changed:

1. hearing gunfire very loudly from farther away
2. hearing aircraft from far away that sound like they are very close
3. no hit sounds when getting shot from back six

But if I look right they are muffled out to the point I barly hear them.. They fixed that a long time ago and now it is back...

In light of the FACT that the P38 fire extingsers are still in the game even though the README states they were removed makes me think they must have made a mistake in the final compile of the code and linked in some old version of the code.. It can happen.. Our guys did that onece on an ASIC and it cost us BIG TIME!

I have heard machinegun fire from miles away, and the other sound problem I've had is weird garbled sounds at the beginning of COOPs.

Speaking of COOPs, there have been issues with these as well but I imagine another thread will pop up about those shortly.

Garbled sounds in DF server right after spawning in, then went away. I wonder if some change in netcode is distorting the sounds on spawn in as things are being synced?

I have had that happne at work.. Some noob doesnt update his link and he is pointed to some old source code.. I just hope they didnt upload this **** source to thier golden file and lost the fixes from the last few revs.

yes i have the same now with v2.02 and v2.04
i sometimes hear He-111 reargunners fiering while they are not even flying http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif
and all other sounds dissapear,and also in the laGG and P40 i almost connot hear the engine with 2.04 while it was fine with other versions

Well I take a slightly different view on sound dating way back to IL2. I know people are concerned about sound effects - bullets and such but what I think the game really misses are real engine sounds i.e. Merlins, Allisons, Jumos, DBs or whatever. I don't know how the engine sounds are stored in the game but what is the likelyhood the sound can be improved?

RGRT I have it as well but not all the time. Kinda of odd really that it comes and goes. Happens more often when Im sitting on the strip and I can here MK108s with no LW plane for miles. I can also here flaps being deployed (not mine) with no plane in site, ect.
Alteast the ability to hear a plane closing on your six has not returned atleast not for me. I would hope that others can not hear it as well.

It does sound a lot like a software configuration management issue, and/or a combination with modularity of the code and merges. Plus there only seem to be three active programmers (plus Oleg, and he's got a new baby) so they are probably overworked.

We're going to be trying some new software config management at work, so if it all does what is needed for a decent price (target price $0) I could drop Oleg a line and tell him what we did and how it worked for us.

We have tons of stuff here at work but it is all UNIX based.. Im actully looking for a PC based stuff for an off sight project.. OUCH, just noticed that too, played offline campaign and I can hear a German AA car shooting while at 1000meters, sounded like I was on the 6 of an HE111.

I can hear the guy in front of me lowering his flaps on the runway. In He111, Stuka, Bf110, P40, P51 & the Ki (all variants) I've got a massive fade-out of engine sound when firing guns. I haven't got the sonar thing though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
