WHY can this gb interrupt my chains? this should not be possible it even goes through chains in revenge! what? this gb should be the same as normal that needs timing to do when ganking this gives him wayy too much potential in ganks and its way too effective on top of the stunlock that you get out of it.

Shino range gb work the same as a regular gb. Stop saying ****. If u get gb in middle of chain it's either bescaues its the end of an heavy or the startup of an heavy. If its on light you are just EXTREMELY unlucky

Rep 31 Shinobi here and here's the bread and butter of Ranged GB :

A. Ranged GB works exactly the same as a normal Guardbreak. In a 1v1 scenario, there are only two ways to use it. First, against characters without a long range leap attack, you can mix up at max range between ranged heavy and ranged guardbreak without fear of being punished. Any experience player will counter you 100% of the time or just dodge it. Second, you need to learn the patern of every single character in the game to know exactly when your ranged GB is 100% guaranteed, otherwise you are setting yourself for failure. For instance :

#1 : After you parry a light attack, you have just enough time to throw a ranged GB. He can't counter it.

#2 : Some characters have a longer dodge attack recovery than others. If you dodge backward and charge your ranged attack and your opponent whiffs his dodge attack, you will get a 100% guaranteed ranged GB. Be careful tho, this doesn't work against Gladiator and Shaman ... and Kensei will zoom in on you and hit you.

B. In group vs group, the Shinobi has to perfectly time his ranged GB in between your combo chain so it lands just at the end of your attack or at the very beginning of your attack. Unfortunatly, this is way easier against some characters than others. For instance, dont even waste your time trying to ranged GB an Aramusha or a Gladiator. Quite frankly, while ranged GB produces the maximum punish, your teamate will often screw up your sickle rain because they will attack too soon ... it's often way better to just let your ranged heavy go (interrupting your opponent's attack) and then roll in / delay / normal guardbreak into Ghoul's Rage.

TLDR : Ranged GB can lead to a devastating combo dealing a lot of damage and when you have smart teamates, you can 100% - 0% your opponent during the stun duration. But 95% of the time, something will go wrong and you will only get a heavy punish off your ranged GB. It being so hard to land in group vs group situation makes it not the optimal tool to use and thus, probably well balanced.

hmm. makes more sense i was using raider and this shinobi just kept snatching me from chains in revenge( maybe it was lag since i was mid swing and the game thought it was end or beginning of the swing dunno) i have never encountered that before even tho im already rep 114 really took me by surprise since i haven seen that much shinobis even since the buff.

Raider is one of the easiest character to grab because you can grab him anywhere between the beginning of his heavy until a little after he feints it into a stunning tap. That's a HUGE window of opportunity for a guardbreak.

Raider's heavy are also rarely chained into a light attack. Usually, Raiders will combo their heavy into a Raider's Fury mix up. Again, between the first heavy and the beginning of the following Raider's Fury, there is a HUGE window of opportunity for a guardbreak.

Not to mention Shinobi usually recovers in time to throw a light + light before the Raider can enter his mix up game...

It's a bad matchup for the raider.
