Is it neccessary to include in the bf-109s DM the swiss cheese windshield. I would think that a burst at most would be 1 or two holes in the windshield. I see about 10 or 15!
Maybe in next patch this could be toned down a bit.

thanks

I counted 23 impacts on my Bf109E-7/B's canopy on the greatergreen server once.

This was just the glass, nothing counting the ones in the panel and metal. Pilot status = totally unharmed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hav you heard of the magic bullet theory? 1 bullet= at least 4 or 5 holes.

also any windshield hit is always directly over the gunsite where it would have killed the pilot or woulded never seen that on the vvs birds

deflected because it hit the windscreen and the gunsight..apparently you guys haven't seen the damage model discussion in FB. FB tracks every round fired, computes trajectory, ballistic properties and then shows the impact point..if you had that many holes..that many rounds hit your canopy..I've had anywhere from five, to around 30..I quit counting at 27..the last one stated pilot was seriously injured..but I still brought the bird home..

Actually you wrong in a way. The "Damage Model" does exactly that, the the visual damage model (two completely different things) is just made of layered textures that are triggered as certain damage conditions are achieved.

Just because you have a big hole in the left wing root doesn't mean that it isn't actually just a bunch of little holes spread out over the inner wing.

From the discussions I've followed on the topic, I'd say yes and no. For the damage modeling, in terms of how it affects your planes performance and the damage/death of the pilot, then yes indeed. However, the visuals of damage, that is a completely different story. It is not one bullet hole showsn for each bullet hit. It's a generic "once a certain level of damage has been reached, swap in this damaged-looking 3D-model/texture.)

Strange is, that the lighest damage on the windshield makes further aiming nearly impossible. The occuring "white spider" is located that way that its covers the crosshair. Strange./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

.. which reminds me..

Anybody have a screenshot of a bullet hole in the canopy of a Russian plane, P-47 or a Fw190? I don't think I've ever seen bullet holes aside Bf109s..

Bump-

Totally agree, the number of bullet holes should be toned down or the frequency of PKs should be increased. I vote for option 1 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

This maybe because the bullet could have come from behind you and gone over your head then through the front windscreen. in that cause the trajectory angle would have ment the bullet would have missed you.

The P-47 D27s cockpit damage graphics do indeed include both bullet holes and the destruction of the gunsight.

Not every cockpit is modelled in the same amount of detail.

Be grateful you don't have to stare at captain ahab's wheel in your 109 like you do in the razorbacks :>

Correct DMs for all planes? Heaven forbid http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Save your breath, though - it won't get fixed; it's LW.

Any particular reason you brought a 1 year old thread back to life? And especially without really much of a worthwhile comment when doing it to boot?
