First off, IL2 FB is the first flight sim game to thoroughly impress me since Dynamix's original Red Baron in the 80's. Thank you.

Secondly, it's been said that you're doing a Pacific War sim, and US games always shortchange the Japanese side, with the exception of Aces Over the Pacific. Every single Pacific War game has Aichi Type 99 Vals, Type 97 Kates and G4M Betty's so it'd be nice to have planes representative of the late war Japanese arsenal. The key planes for late-war Japan:

Fighters:
N1K1 Shiden, Shidenkai
Ki-84 Hayate
Ki-100 Type 5 "Tony"
J2M Raiden
A6M5 (ideally model 52 as well)

Attack/Bombers:
B6N Tenzan
B7A Ryusei/Ryuseikai
D4Y Suisei (both early liquid cooled and radial versions)
Ki-67 Hiryu
P1Y Ginga

Recconaissance:
C6N Saiun

Float Planes:
H6K Type 97 "Mavis"
H8K Type 2 "Emily"
F1M Type 0 "Pete"
E16A Zuiun

Special planes:
MXY7 Ohka Tokkou "Baka bomb"

While we're at it, carrier types:
Akagi, Hiryu, Soryu and Shokaku classes are a must. Optional ones would be Taiho, Shinano, Unryu, Amagi

Given the huge selection in FB and the Aces pack, I hope you can make a Pacific War sim with lots of Japanese planes. I as well as a lot of other Japanese flight simmers would really like a quality game bringing to life these planes.

I would like to add, that in FB now we have the possibility to mod dynamic campaigns that change the course of European WAR, and even allows the historical possibility of Germany winning the WAR.

Luthier's Pacific sim should allow for historic possibility of Japanese winning the WAR, or at least the Pacific WAR coming to a draw. This will require late WAR Japanese planes to sim.

Lexx,

"I would like to add, that in FB now we have the possibility to mod dynamic campaigns that change the course of European WAR, and even allows the historical possibility of Germany winning the WAR"

I will second that. It is just a game after all. That was one of the best part of SWOTL circa 1990..........

Im wondering if Luthiers project will be integrateable with FB or will it only be useable as a stand alone. It would b nice to be able to take the maps, missions, campaigns and AC from that project and move them to FB. That way I would only have to have one sim running.

StarShoy is non~committal, but a few old timers here and at netwings who may be in the Know seem to think that FB and Luthier will mix. As of now, I think we are safe, until further notice.

I didn't see the Ki-46 in that list..

It isn't late war... But still... I think it would be VERY important to have the Dinah in any pacific sim. Even if its only AI... Although toying around with it would be an awful lot of fun if it was flyable.

A truly amazing aircraft that was a thorn in the Americans side right until the end of the war.

Yes, evidently Luthier's project can be stand-alone or as an add-on to FB.

Ki-46's primarily a recconaissance plane, the fighter variant, the Ki-46 Type III was pretty useless in trying to tackle B-29's - its sluggish maneuverability, slow rate of climb made it easy prey, and the Ha-112 engines, like all other late-war Japanese engines, didn't do well at high altitude. B-29's switched to low altittude night bombing, making the Dinah useless altogether.

THe Ki-46 was most useful in the early stages of the war, before fast fighters like the F4U and F6F came out. For late war recconaissance, the C6N Saiun was logged as being the fastest Japanese production aircraft (hence the Saiun instead of a Ki-46 or Ki-102).

sugaki;
what is "next pacific war game"?
noone know such a game plan in FB.
no war, don't remind cruel real War.
ex, rabaul-guadalcanal is very long range, nobody can't fly on PC.
I understand and hope some pacific real map, scenary and bomber, fighter, carrier.

LEXX;
FB is a not War sim game but a flight combat sim.
I now hope to FB continuously developing high quality flight model.
first of all, air forces is part of a military. win is not relate to airforce only.

FB is good dream of old bad dream. it's enough.
survived fighter noone saying once more. their origin were loving fly air.

The Ohka would be pretty cool for online battles, against ships and airbases and such. Although the single player campaign for the Ohka would be pretty short. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Typo in 1st post, I said Amagi as optional, it's supposed to be Hiyo. Amagi is an Unryu class carrier. My bad.

Awake: Rumor's been flying that a Pacific War game's coming up, so I'm getting a head start w/ suggestions :-)

Rabaul -> Guadacanal is indeed a long distance, but that's why there's time compression :-) Hopefully 32x time compression too.

future pacific game
-------------------

what's wrong with having a complete new game ,maybe with 2-3 discs with everything in it including the dynamic historical air carrier campaign and bombing rabaul and straffing guadalcanal.it's all air.
the aircraft carriers must be present and we must blow up ships with torps or else we are just kidding ourselves like with those independant add on's.

If the sim really offers a dynamic campaign past August of 45...I'd love to see the Bearcat and Tigercat modelled to take on those Ki-84's and Ki-100's...

I hope for some late war Japanese planes too...early in the war and late in the war, Japan fielded some very competitive aircraft but 1943 and 44 were not good to Japanese aircraft designers and pilots. On line play might be unbalanced too in those years of Lightnings, Corsairs and Hellcats taking on slower but more nimble Zekes, Tony's, and Tojo's. I think the George, Frank and whatever the Ki-100 was called will even the field against allied aircraft...at least they do in the current FB game.
