yep.... of all the bastardized 109's (Hispano buchon etc) the Avia is the best... and actually looks pretty good

Yes, but by all accounts, it was an unforgiving aircraft, even for the 109 'family.' The Czechs who flew it were not sorry to see it replaced.

Their nickname for it translates into 'mule,' rarely used as a term of endearment.

They also had a habit of shooting their prop blades off with the MG-131's, or so I have read.

Still, goes to show what alot of improvisation can achieve.

Just take bf109 with gunpods for on-line dogfight and we all know how heavy the plane get...almost no chance to survive, even not to mention Daimler-Benz 605 engines were gone, so they have no other choice that much heavier Jumo 211 engines.
