Luthier,

I own/run Ghost Skies. (http://www.ghostskies.com) A Dog Fight league that I've been trying to get started for a little while now for FB. I am going to get an early start on PF.
Since Pacific Fighters is going to be stand alone, I would like to give you several simple suggestions that, if incorporated, would make DF games a lot more simple to base league play around. These are features that IL-2 FB does not have, that I think you could benefit from.

1) Timed DF games. Make the timing selectable, say 60, 30, 15 minutes, with an option for unlimited time. Once all players have selected 'Ready', the host can hit launch and the timer would begin. Once time expires, all players would be brought into a summary room which could display the stats / score from the game.

2) kill/death option. Instead of the usual attrition score, add a feature that the host can select that will display kills made and deaths suffered from each pilot. This could be in addition to the score, or in place of. I would suggest in place of, just so there is a distinct difference. Kill/death final can be shown on summary page after time expires.

3) No Respawn option. Currently in IL2FB you cannot inhibit respawns in DF servers. Having an option for one life only would be a very usable feature. One life and one life only.

Those three options would make a world of difference for my league. Without them, I have to find ways to work them into the rules, which can seriously complicate what could otherwise be an easy feature. I hope you will be able to incorporate these suggestions.

I've also posted this in a Private thread, in case you would like to tell me I am crazy in privacy. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

these features are available using the FBD code that you can get from the Greater Green forum.

But would be more convenient in the game. Having to ask a host to set up the FBD every time they want to run a Dog Fight game with specific parameteres is a pain. Having the features added directly to the game so that they could set it all up with the touch of a couple of buttons, and NOT have to run a third party program, would be much better for everyone IMO.

I think that's a very good way to look at this. FBD was designed to fill a void in dogfight servers. The success/demand for FBD only proves this point. Having those features built into the game would enhance online play, and the designers have the control to add more functionality than FBD or any 3rd party program could every accomplish. It would be great to see that happen...

Thanks,
Sammie

S! Sammie
Thanks for all your hard work providing a FREE product that enhances enjoyment/realism to the community
One question...
(please dont get "haired up" as I truly mean no offence or )

But uh, Ummm... Given any thought to a simple GUI? (y/n-radio buttons/server name/ fill in the blanks etc etc) and install instructions that "Joe Idiot" (ie. ME) can follow.

Seems like a lot of squaddies not running a ded.server "full time" but wanting the ability to rotate maps/ track thier squads stats for intra/inter squad activities in greater detail or rotate maps on a private machine would benefit from your work but are a bit intimidated by the percieved complexity involved..and end up using an inferior product with not even 1/10th of the features of yours (ie Sturmolog *yuck*) because its ez----or perhaps we're just stupid, whether way thanks for your good work!

GUI would be great, and I was just discussing this with an FBD user the other day. Problem is, GUI programming is quite a task, unless you do it all the time (I don't). I have been looking around for a GUI guy, but haven't found one willing to commit to the project. If you know someone, send him on over to the greatergreen forums.

Thanks,
Sammie
