I know this is in the wrong room, but I was wondering if any of you awesome skinners know a effective way in producing your own numbers on the sides of planes.

I have photoshop 7. I have used the text tool but it seems to be less effective.

could you please clarify about "effective way" you mentioned above?

If it's about jagged edges, maybe you can try something like this: use larger font size than the skin need, rasterize it and then scale it down. Or have you tried the font smoothing (?) options (strong, sharp etc...)?

anyway, that's as far as i know aout putting numbers on the skins.

Skinners Heaven (http://www.1java.org/sh/) has some military fonts you might try

You can do it as you said by literally typing them onto the skin, got to servals site

click on markings, download them to use click on fonts at the top download them onto your pc open windows open the font folder and extract the fonts into that, then when you select a font in paintshop you will be able to select the correct aircraft stencil font and type those markings on http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Definitely go to Skinner's Heaven, it is an excellent rescource for customising your aircraft.

I suspect that the problem you're having is that the modifiacations you're making are covering details on your chosen skins. For this reason you need to download the layered templates which can be found at il2skins.com (http://www.il2skins.com/), then you can shift your layers below the dirt, panel lines etc.
