Just one wee point I'd like to make though...

...the Illustrious only ever had 1 FAA squadron embarked who were equipped with the Seafire Mk.IIc and that was No.894 Sqn who were on Illustrious from June - October 1943.

Check this link out:

Cool shots.

Man, a 475k jpg file of that crappy resolution? 475kb should be a huge shot. What's the point of making a large file size jpg at awful resolution? They testing on a P2 or something? Odd that the rufe shots look far better at half the file size. :/

in order to have tarento, we also need italian planes. Seeing that english flat top remind me of all that could be done with the planes and maps sets of AEP in addition to those in PF.

well, actually, no you don't need italian aircraft (even though we do have the falco, and G-50!!) because the Taranto raid was a complete surprise, and I don't think any aircraft were over the harbour while the attack was happening. Even the AAA was lax, coz most of the eyeties were asleep!!

I think just one Swordfish from the first wave was actually lost.

So, what we need are swordfishes. We have Gladiators, which is what were flown by the fighter squadrons in Illustrious at the time, and we have a couple of italian a/c, all we need is a couple of italian big ships, and a map with a big harbour with the back wall high cliffs, and there you go!!! Taranto!!!

Anybody else notice the extremely long payout of the arresting cable in the Corsair shots?!! I think these shots have been up before, that might explain the different file sizes/resolutions.

I sure hope they get that one figured out. We can't have planes dragging their arresting cables all the way to the middle of the island.

In that case we need to be able to set the alert level of the AAA and the AA on the ships. The way it is now,(FB) the AA crews are always at full alert with the eyes of eagles and the marksmenship skills of Richtofen. A lot of Swordfish will fall, even with no enemy aircraft in the air.

Hey Tooz, wasn't it the Swordfishes that dealt the blow to Bismark's rudder?

I have a question about the screenshots: That shot of the Avenger with folded wings (last week) shows rockets hanging from them, seems a little risky...was this practiced? I thought all ordnance was added after the plane was up on the main deck.

And Razor, I think one of those gunners is actually turning his head watching the Corsair go by...probably wondering the same thing you are! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Typically the wings were unfolded right before take off. They have to add ord long before that.

Yup, that's right. Flying, I think, from the HMS Ark Royal, which had to be diverted from patrol in the Med to intercept (I think.....?)

Hey Flat! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Yeah, I've seen pictures of planes being armed down below in the hanger deck, but it seems to me that it would be difficult to load those HVARs on the Turkey with the wings folded.

If they do come up with a way to impliment a barrier, I sure hope that they get the arresting gear payout down to a more realistic distance, otherwise, we'll be in the barrier more often than not. That will not be good for our Greenie board!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
