Hey guys, so I've perfected flying the 'Butcher Bird' the way it comes off the line, me and this plane seem to suit eachother very well. I was just wondering if any other pilots could share some tips on the prop pitch. Fuel Air mixture equation, to further my capabilityies in the plane. Stuff like steeings to climb, high speeds, high altitude, anything you can throw in.

Thanks guys!

Fuel Mixture? FW190 does it for you. Prop Pitch? FW190 Does that too! It also slices bread! And cleans your bathroom! All for just 29.95! And we'll throw in manifold pressure and engine RPM all linked to one lever! And thats not all, if you use the FW190 right now, you'll never have to adjust your supercharger again!

(P.S. If you MUST fiddle with your prop pitch, in 'manual mode' it operates as a Constant Speed Prop, just as the P51 or La5. See here for information on Constant Speed Props: http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/il2guide/cemguide/intro.htm

Hmmm all automatic hey..... you'd think it could set itself to climb a bit better. I find it has trouble catching those darned P-47's at 9000m+.

What are you doing at 9000m in a fw? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
trying to catch a P47???? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

At 9000+ no german fighter except Ta-152 can catch a P-47. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
In A-9 if you are going over 7000m ... you are looking for troble.

Yea, only the ta can handle anything that high. And only if the engine doesn't decide to quit.

Ehhhhh, I don't think the 190 performs like a constant speed prop. It's like a hybrid between constant speed and variable pitch, at least in my expierence. When you want to get to higher speeds, level and in a dive, you must reduce prop pitch and reach those higher top end speeds. Everything below 400-450 kph works like a constant speed prop though, and she accelerates at a constant rate there.

Depends on density altitude, but sealevel to 3km usually is ~100% PP. 3km-4.5km I use ~95% PP. Above that is ~90% PP. On the deck to get about 550 kph I decrease around 88% in 190A5, think A9 is about the same (decreasing gradually, to keep the aircraft accelerating. If its not accelerating you have decreased too much, or you might have topped out for your configuration. Try reducing throttle but also closing radiators more.)

Yea, a few times I've been chasing planes up high and the p-47 overtakes me at about .1km/20seconds at 9000m. depending on how hot my engines running, I can stay pretty close but cant keep it up for long.

I thought the TA would be like a mega plane too before it came out, nothins gonna replace my A-9 tho. The TA can have its high flight. LOL everytime I fly that thing a KI takes one of those long wings away from me.
