mhmm.. I played version 1, and I was not impressed.
Space is empty, no place to hide (except asteroids), was not fun and all the gfx-power can be used for detailed space-ships (which are not very detailed IMHO).
Naa, anyway, when playing MultiPlayer, many games (even the old Doom II or Quake 1) can make the trick /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

the cloaking devices are pretty cool, as are mine fields /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I think the ships are pretty detailed, you can zoom right in and there are some really neat little touches.

Bader, you know the "space" looks like FB at sunset. Wozop with all the atmosphere there? Background radiation?

weasel75::
-- Space is empty, no place to hide

Space is the BEST place to hide...think about it. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Been writing my own space combat simulator, and with the inverse square law for passive detection and inverse quartic for active detection, the first thing I noticed that if you wanna hide, space is the place. Space is BIG. Also, one may hide from the enemy against the hordes of dim stars in the Milky Way, but then the other guy is also hidden 180 degrees away in the Milky Way too. Unless you do extra-galactic space combat thing outside of any galaxy.

Of course in a Full Real space combat simulator, the enemy is at most a dim single pixel dot. Not attractive for the gaming pubic, or the Full Real FBob set either. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Looks nice. Too bad I can't play Homeworld because I'm boycotting Sierra.

I'm going to buy Homeworld 2 one of these days. I ended up missing the release when I was out of town dodging hurricane Isabelle, and I havn't gotten around to buying it yet. Maybe this weekend /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Played it. If u remove the scenery and music it is pretty much like any other game in the genre though.
But I enjoyed it.

Plz go here for more discussions on HW2:
