I had the same problem. Game loads to menus fine, but when I want to load saved game it was crashing to desktop. I've already had nvidia game drivers installed, few days ago.

What solved the problem was going to Properties -> Local Files -> Verify files.

It found a few errors and downloaded the files again, after that game loaded without issues.

Hello everyone. Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to see that you are having troubles with the game crashing upon launch. As a first step I'd recommend verifying your game files in Uplay (https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Faqs/000025650/Verify-Game-In-Uplay?fallback=en_GB) or Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335). I would then recommend our PC troubleshooting (https://support.ubi.com/en-US/faqs/000025513/General-PC-Troubleshooting/) for crashing. Please make sure to restart your computer after installing new drivers. Also, if you have a 32 core CPU this is known to cause crashing (https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/faqs/000031906/) currently.

If you continue to have troubles, please reach out to our technical team (https://support.ubi.com).

Since you've akcnowledged the issue with 32 or more cores, I just want to say it would be nice if you fixed this issue in all of your recent games. I've been running Dual Xeon setups for the last decade and all of your recent games share this problem, Wildlands, Farcry 4, 5, Primal, etc. Older games didn't seem to have this issue. The only companies I've ever had issues with are usually AAA whereas smaller teams seem to have no problem patching their games. The vast majority don't require patches to begin with.

I had issues too starting the game and I fixed it by copying the game from my big HDD to the one where my OS is installed, so if you have the game installed on a secondary drive try doing that. I had a similar thing happen to me when forza 7 came out

I only have one hard drive, so this is not the cause of the issue for me. Still no word from Ubisoft either, besides a generic list of troubleshooting fixes that are apparently not the cause of this, since they did not help. Hopefully they are looking into it, but it would be nice to at least hear from them, to at least know what/if they are doing anything.

Yea... I remember there being an issue with another UbiSoft game having the same issue. There was a patch a day or two later and I was able to run without any issues. So this Game is Really Broken. Never have I had any Problems with a Assassins Creed, but this is different.
After the Spash Screen the Game would Freez. After finding some Space on C: and moving the Folder then telling UPlay where the Game is it Launched no Problem.

U Serious Ubisoft??? As if Games shall only run on the Main Drive! I have a 500GB SSD and it only has 20 GB Left. Other People do not even have that much space on the system main drive. WHY does the Game have to be on C???

Downloaded latest Nvidia and Windows drivers
Splash Page loads then crashes
No error messages
Tried uninstalling / redownloading - running as administrator
Verified files
Only application running
Disappears from Task Manager
Nothing is working

FYI !!!!!!!!!
I got it to work...
Saved the driver file in folder on main desktop screen
This time I did the driver installation from my desktop screen and got the game to load.
Did a clean installation of Nvidia Drivers not a driver update and now I can play the game @ 60 FPS in 1920x1080
I7-4790 / GTX 770 / 32GB RAM / Win 7 64-bit

So.. I deleted the game, deleted uplay, delete the drivers.. then started ALL over, by downloading uplay, downloading the game, downloading new drivers, and then this time made sure it was installed on C: ... Still same issue.. Splash screen, then returning to UPLAY window "Play".....

I have a Phenom II X4, 16 GB Ram + GTX1070..

This issue sucks! - I hope that UBISOFT will get a patch out asap.. And make sure that the game can be started from any other disk than C: Absurd..

I just got response from Ubisoft Support.... this is what they say:
--------------------------------------
Upon analyzing the information in the diagnostic files, I have noticed that your processor is slightly below the Minimum Requirements, so I am afraid to report that it might be impossible for the game to launch on this current system.

Please note that while the other components you have are the necessary ones to run the game, you would only be able to run the game with Resolution at 720p and Video Preset set to Lowest.

I understand this was not the solution you were looking for and I want to apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding on this matter.
--------------------------------------

As you understand, this isn't the answer I was waiting for!!! My CPU is approximately 10-15% lower than they mention in the minimum requirements... so I expect the game should at least start and the gameplay could be a bit slower as usual....

This is the hardware I have:
Processor: Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Graphics: GeForce GTX 660
Memory: 8 GB

Assassins Creed Syndicate runs pretty smooth with graphics settings set to VERY HIGH.. so it's very strange Origins doesn't start at all when CPU is just a little under the minimum System Requirements

Anyone else has the same issue? Please let me know

And has anyone any idea it has to do with SSE4.1? Like other games in the past?

Clint_johnston2

Add me to the list. I've updated drivers / checked Windows Updates / verified files, still CTD before the main game loads. Very disappointing. I submitted a ticket with my Dxdiag and MSinfo. I recommend you all do the same. At least they will have on record how many of us are having the issue.

Yobilat
10-27-2017, 01:31 PM
At this point it's almost certain that game requires SSE4.1. It's also very likely that the game uses SSE4.2 so any patch to this problem could be very challenging.

I had the same issue last night, verified game files, restarted, made sure i had upto date drivers, I then moved my game files over to my OS ssd after uninstalling some other stuff, This worked for me.

As for some reason some ubisoft games only like starting from the hard drive your windows installation is installed on. i found this out after replaying through some of the AC titles on PC. Ac1, Ac2 and brotherhood so far need to be on OS hardrive or wont start, weirdly tho, the division for instance is on my F:/ drive without issue.

So anyone who cannot get the game to launch please try Moving it to your C:/ drive, annoying that you have to, but it might get it to work for the time being.

shadovvraith
10-27-2017, 03:50 PM
Finally managed to fix it:
- moved installation to C: = didn't fix
- updated to latest NVIDIA drivers = didn't fix
- re-downloaded the whole game = didn't fix
- restarted the computer = didn't fix
- installed older version of NVIDIA driver = didn't fix
- turned the settings in Riva Tuner (shadow app for Afterburner) Application Detection Level : None, Custom Direct 3D support : None. = BAM! Works :)

Hope this helps some of you guys.

I think I am having the same problem but I can make it in game for a few min then crash some times but most its crashing before I can even load the game. I was able to play for about 30 last night but nothing past that and just keeps crashing now, even in a new game if I can make it that far to start it.

I have a I7 4770k at 4.00 have tried at 3.50 also same thing.
24gb ram, 64bit
2X SLI gtx 970, I have taken out one card and switched them still the same thing, even if I turn SLI off. Updated drivers.

The game is maxing out my CPU at 100%, I think that is one of the problems most people are having that I have read on the forums so far.

I am going to try and other install paths to see if I can get it to stop.

I got stuck at the splash screen when attaching sde to the uplay launcher and when attaching sde to "ACOrigins.exe" process the crash that usually occurs just took longer (i used a small python script here to attach to the pid, as the process crashes so fast I wasn't able to type the command myself before it crashed). There are still some parameters to play around. It should also be noted that without sde there seem to be at least two different PIDs running ACOrigins.exe shortly after each other so maybe just by attaching sde to the correct one would work.

I've got it installed on my C drive with the OS (only have the 1 hard drive), have an intel processor, all hardware meets/exceeds recommended requirements. Still crashing at splash screen. This is a pretty frustrating launch, made even worse by the complete lack of information from Ubisoft. We still have no idea if they are even aware of this problem, since they won't talk to us.

What annoys me, is that its not even added as a report in the "AC Origins Known Issues [PC]" topic.. This topic has 80 replys!

Frustrating, that people including me cant even play it on launch day.. And we have no idea, if the problem will be fixed..

It seems that the problem occurred on older cpu.
For example I have core 2 quad q9450 2.66 and I have this.
Also although I was playing ghost recon wildlands without any problem suddenly I can't play it either.
It is like ubisoft wants us to buy new cpu's

Fixed it by uninstalling the game and letting it reinstall in the default "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder instead of my "C:\Games" folder.

I meet/exceed all system recommendations and use only 1 hard drive. None of these fixes work and instead are fixes to other existing problems with similar crashes. This crash is still preventing us from getting into the game. I just finished chatting with tech support and was told they don't know, to just keep checking back on the forums and hope a solution appears some day.

For what its worth, I purchased the game through Steam. I wonder if everyone else having this issue (not the installed on 2nd HDD issue) is also running through Steam.

Yes.. The Ubisoft response was in the first or second page..

"Hello everyone. Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to see that you are having troubles with the game crashing upon launch. As a first step I'd recommend verifying your game files in Uplay or Steam. I would then recommend our PC troubleshooting for crashing. Please make sure to restart your computer after installing new drivers. Also, if you have a 32 core CPU this is known to cause crashing currently.

If you continue to have troubles, please reach out to our technical team."

Since, silence... I just hope they look into this matter... and fast!

@raetiacorvus on you all the hope bro

Sorry to disappoint, but I think I already wasted to much time trying to get this game to launch. I played around with the "sde" approach in the hope we could at least get the confirmation that the lack of modern instruction sets is causing the crash on phenom II and friends. Ubi wouldn't be ubi by not talking clearly with its community. All that would have been needed is a clear "needs at least SSE4.1" in the system requirements or add "processor x and newer" both would make clearer that older processors aren't supported.

Even now they just state your processor is below the system requirements even tough those are vague enough some people could misinterpret them as requirements for performance rather then requirement to launch the game at all.

Yes.. and it was done in other games but could involve performance hit depending on how much compiled program use those instructions.

It may be unrelated or something more exotic causes this problem. It sure seems that nobody with C2Q or Phenom(or equally old AMD CPU) cant run this game and instruction sets are likely cause.

I've had 6 mail exchanges with Ubisoft Support today... with 5 different people from the support staff ... Not that I've become much wiser about anything...

Still broken, with not so much as a word from Ubisoft. Some communication to inform us of what's going on and what's being done would be nice. Until then, it's assumed that this issue is beneath them, and nothing is going to be done about it.

Unfortunately this has become typical of so called "AAA" companies, you will only be heard by someone that can troubleshoot common problems and not an engine developer. They give everyone a few generic hoops to jump through and if that fails...nothing. The people qualified to make simple optimizations to engine code have already moved on to new projects or new companies so the default response becomes "blame the customer" whether they are slightly under-spec or way over-spec.

They only truly optimized for consoles, IMHO a lot of developers are increasingly lacking skills when it comes to engine scalability because they are so focused on consoles with locked hardware specifications. If you can get a refund, you probably shouldn't wait too long to do so.

I got my game to run ONCE through steam and I didn't change anything really. I toggled a few settings in nvidia control panel but eventually returned to my old settings.
It ran and I toggled some settings in the game menu and ran the benchmark and exited out (no crash)...but I could not get it to run again. I have an older card(s) and have been meaning to upgrade, but with some settings tweaks, I've been able to run most new games very well.

Over 24 hours now and still not so much as a "we're working on it". The customer service here really isn't looking all that great, when they can't even address a wide spread issue and offer assurance that it's being looked into. Is it even being looked into, or should everyone with this issue just get a refund and tell everyone they know to stay away from anything with Ubosft's name on it?

Hello,

I had the same starting problem here. Just the splash screen and then nothing.
My specs:
Medion Eraser X7849 MD60426
Intel Core i7-6700HQ
16 GB RAM
500 MB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB, driver versie 388.00.
Windows 10

After de-installing and installing and updating my GeForce drivers a few times I almost gave up.

But in the end I solved it for me by doing the following:
I opened the device management in Windows and started at the top of my list and manually updated every device. I let it look for updates automatically. Most of them already had the newest drivers but some didn’t. When I finished that ACO worked.

Excuse my poor English.

As said in AC Syndicate stealing from poor called capitalism. Well it wont be good for amd and intel if people buy a cpu and play their games with it for several years. So they use whatever it takes to force people buy new hardwares to keep their business profitable. Phenom ii x4/x6 and core 2 extreme cpus are still capable and can run today games with playable fps(30).In the other hand advantages of sse4 over sse3 ia minimal and not that considerable at all.So its just a filthy business trick and thanks to them i cant lunch the game with my phenom ii x6 and rx 470.Such a shame.

Niopretas
10-28-2017, 10:26 AM
That was NEVER the case in any game before. This cant be the last word. Any developer gets his games going and Ubisoft, as a AAA Publisher not? This is surely more than strange. The argument: That is capitalism, no. Then there would be more developer, who do this. Sorry but in more than 15 years of PC-experience i have never encountered such nonsense.

This sse 41 problem isn't exclusive of ubisoft, several other companies released games with this damn problem, after that they released a patch who repaired the crash. the doubt here is if Ubisoft is going to do the same, or not, because they dont give us any feedback.

@ dejanman2010

Oh my god, i love you, it worked for me !

But in the end I solved it for me by doing the following:
I opened the device management in Windows and started at the top of my list and manually updated every device. I let it look for updates automatically. Most of them already had the newest drivers but some didn’t. When I finished that ACO worked.

Well I don't know if the game won't crash afterwards, but at least it launches this time. Thanks again !
I updated my other graphic card (Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 I think), not my Nvidia card.

So for those who have tried everything: de-installing then reinstalling, changing game path, run as admin, verified game files... and nothing works, try this, it seems to work for me (for the moment).

Luckily I brought my game from Amazon. They've just refunded me for the game that I cannot play without any quibbles.

The is absolutely the last time I purchase anything from Ubisoft, I wanted to support the developers but if the developers build a game that does not work for so many customers then they've lost my support.

Good luck finding a resolution everyone.

Hi
Just an update for all phenom users
The game not starts becouse of sh** system requirements that does not state processor MUST support SSE4.1
They say minimum is FX-6350 but i managed to start it on FX4100 but not on a overclocked phenom 2 x4 BE

I have the same problem as all people here.

i5 3470
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 970

all better than minimum and i'm also stuck at the splash screen

i tried updating my NVIDIA driver, updating all intel drivers in device manager, also updated intel graphics driver with intel driver assistant who installed one higher version than device manager did, run it as admin or in compatibility mode

i don't want to install it on C because i only have my windows on it, all games inclusive ubisoft launcher is installed on E and i never had problems with it

Hi

I was wondering if there is anyone who installed the game on another drive than the C-drive managed to get the game working. okay

Niopretas
10-28-2017, 01:48 PM
I dont want to try it. My C-Drive is too small, there are only 28 GB of free Space right now. I would need to have to move nearly everything, which is not windows, to install ACO on C. So maybe Ubisoft could fix this or at least comment on the problems, which seem not to have the one sole reason of a missing instruction set.

Game was crashing a second after the splash screen showed up.

Opened the device manager and updated the driver for the following display adapter: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

So...I reinstalled the game. (I tried to free up space on C but couldn't, so I reinstalled on E)
I used to be able to hit start in steam and bring up the loading splash screen and it would then disappear after a second. Now I don't even get that. I just says the game is running for half a second, and stops. I tried all the tricks everyone has been mentioning but install on the C drive. Going to get a refund if this doesn't get fixed in a few hours.

So after my re-install...I can play the game about 1/25 times I try to run it. When it does run, it runs decent. (getting 30-60 fps with settings tweaked)
I restarted and now I can't get it to work at all again. Back to the same splash issue. WTF. When it does work though, it seems to work the next few times too if I don't close out of anything (steam/uplay) I am baffled. I managed to get 1+ hour of gameplay in...debating refunding and getting the xbox one version.

Edit 2: So I went to go run the game again tonight and I had the same problems I usually do while running it. I Unplugged my usb bluetooth stick and usb keyboard stick from my pc and everything worked fine. (Those were only for secondary purposes anyways, not main input). Afterward the game ran just fine. I'm beginning to think there is just something the game or engine dosn't like about weird devices or peripherals plugged into my pc.

This is a solution that worked for me.

First read the following:

1) If you're not installed on the same drive as your OS, try that. It's worked for a lot of people
2) If you have a phenom or other older cpu that has some sort of sse 4.1, that could be the issue
3) If you meet and exceed all requirements but still crash at the splash screen, below is what fixed it for me.

I ran ACOrigins.exe itself (browse local files from steam to find it), and I set it to run as administrator AND to run in compatability mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

Hopefully this will help people to get playing, until Ubisoft can patch whatever oddity is causing this to be necessary.

@UbiGabbin, I understand your guys are working on the correction, but it's been 2 days since the launch and only in this thread more than 180 messages, not counting other topics with the same problems, and you still have not answered if anything is being done that would solve it or not? we generally have to wait for a decision or is this a principled position of Ubisoft about SSE 4.2 and will not there be a patch? I would like at least some clarity in this matter.
p.s. Sorry for my English, it is not my native language, so Google is the translator.

I'm having the same problem. At first I thought "yeah ok my pc runs the minimum requirements" so I installed it on my boyfriends pc which has the recommended requirements and to my surprise I got same problem. WTF . So then after reading around I saw that installing it in the C drive helped many people. How the hell will I make 40 GB of free space on my C drive?! Are you kidding me?! I'll have to erase half my pc! After that I thought "ok I'll wait for my game to arrive and I'll try running it from the DVD" but surprise, no DVD included! *sigh* And what's all this with the SSE 4? That wasn't a requirement according to the game specs + my boyfriends pc does have SSE 4. So what the heck is going on? Even if I upgrade my PC no one guarantees me that the game will work. Ubisoft what do you have to say about this?

Stop Teamviewer by going into the task manager and end all instances ... this may be applicable to any other background program that maybe requesting control of the screen content

After hours of trying to run the game on my PC (GTX 960, Core 2 Quad Q8300, 8gb ram, win 7 64bit) I installed the game on my notebook (Intel Pentium N3540, Intel HD graphics, 4gb ram) And to my suprise- the game launched. Cutscene worked, but since its way below the minimal requirements, I had like 5-10 fps. Intel Pentium N3540 I mentioned before, does not meet the minimal requirements in any way, but there is one thing it has. SSE 4.1/4.2 Instructions. So dear ubisoft, please stop playing with us. The reason the game is not launching isn't that our PCs don't meet the minimal requirements. Its because you made having SSE 4.1/4.2 on CPU necessary. The Developers of Mafia III did the same mistake. The game wasn't launching on CPUs withous SSE4.1/4.2, but they released a patch after a few days. Hope you'll do the same.

I'm running an AMD FX 8350 it possesses both sse 4.1 and 4.2 as well as sse4.A not only that it is listed in the official specs as a compatible processor on both steam and uplay. I still cannot launch this game. I have tried upgrading the the Fall creators update, updated drivers, removed all peripherals, turning off all non essential processes and services and moving install to C: directory. Still nothing.

A new patch for ACO was just put out on Steam. What it did for me was bring up the Compatibility Troubleshooter. From there, I was able to determine that both UplayService.exe and ACOrigins.exe were incompatible with my system. The only thing that I have that could possibly be the issue is my CPU... AMD Phemon II X6 1090T 3.2MHz.

So, unless UbiSoft comes up with an answer for this, I will have to upgrade my CPU... I guess... and if I want to play ACO. I run GRW and WD2 just fine.

With the problems with the FX-8350, I am really concerned.

I cancelled my preorder of Far Cry 5 until I am sure I can run it. Not much of a warm fuzzy feeling here.

Just an FYI.

Hello Again

Thank you for contacting back.

My name is ******* and I'll be assisting with your case, nice to meet you.

I'm glad to hear you were able to run the game on another system with the minimum requirements (That was an FX 4100 wich is also below min. requirements but the game started there not like on the phenom 2 x4)
I also thank you very much for reporting your findings with the SSE 4.1.

This issue will be forwarded up to the development team for further review. However, that is all that we can do at this time, as we have no further information.

If any additional information becomes available, it will be posted to the game's official forum at http://forums.ubi.com and our Support Website (http://support.ubi.com).

Thank you for your understanding. Any other question I can help with, please let us know.

Kind Regards,

in a nutshell:
tried ACO at an fx4100 below minimum requirements with ****y videocard gtx 560 that can run the game no errors no crach
installed on my pc phenom 2 x4 overclocked with a gtx 760 videocard 8Gb ram but game won't start .

conclusion: ubisoft comes with a pacht to fix the cpu compatibility problems or we all go and upgrade our pc's becouse there is a hidden agenda of boosting cpu sell at the end of the year
guess refund is out of discushion since they hide behind "your system requirements" but they stated a processor type not the instruction set that the processor must have !
I newer been so disapointed about AO and Ubisoft not even when they broke the multiplayer in Unity.

Same issue. All drivers updated. Specs well over minimum (i7-7700k, GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB Ram). I don't even get the splash screen, just an error that says ACOrigins.exe stopped working. People!!! The problem of start is solved!!! If at you, as well as уменя in addition to the discrete video card, the percents can process video, then you come into "control bar", then into "device manager" and open "videoadapters". There will be your video (on an example of 1070) and "Intel HD Graphic", click it and press "to update drivers". There will pass a little time, the driver will be downloaded and will be set, later close and launch a game. Voila, everything works, weeds normal.

OS: Microsoft Windows 10, 64-bit Professional (build 16299)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU X9650 @ 3.00GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 8192 MB

Looking at the log file entries when this happens I have the following:

From launcher_log.txt
INFO GameStartPipe.cpp (79) Accepted connection.
INFO GameStartPipe.cpp (80) Starting game session.
INFO CloudSaveSyncGameStart.cpp (307) Migrate to new cloud save system.
INFO CloudSaveMigration.cpp (158) There's no savegames to migrate.

overlay_log.txt

INFO Hooks.cpp (48) UI disabled via command line
DEBUG PlatformHooks.cpp (114) 'kernel32.dll' hooked
DEBUG PlatformHooks.cpp (114) 'kernel32.dll' hooked

game_starter_log.txt

I have tried most of the things mentioned in this thread, i.e. moving to C: drive (where OS is) and updating drivers etc.

I wish I hadn't fallen for buying through UPlay and on/near launch day. That won't happen again.

Hoping it gets fixed soon.

Well I finally managed to fix the problem... by resetting windows to factory default with the built in repair tool. Had to back up a load of stuff to my hard drive including the game to do it since it's essentially a reformat of your c: drive and now I have to futz with windows to things how I like it again but that game launches and I can finally play the damn thing! Might be an option for some of you.

Well my Game starts, then runs the Animus Sequenz at the beginning (aka Loading screen) and then it just crashes and goes back to the uplay...this is very frustrating to be honest. i really hope they patch that soon, because my PC does match the requirements.

I couldn't get past the splash screen either but with the following changes I was able to play just fine for the past 8 hours.

I installed the game on my :/C directory
I updated my graphic card driver
I made a new shortcut of the game, set it on Vista service pack 2 and run as admin

These workarounds where posted before in this thread so thanks for that, it fixed my game.

This is a common and serious problem. Why is there no specific answer,It`s been three days!

Because Ubi wants us to give 400euros to play her game.
Reason unspecific:mad:

Congratulations :) I, unfortunately, can not afford this, my high-speed SSD C: the size of only 55 GB, it is only a system and drivers, and the game takes 44 GB. There is a second SSD of 150 GB, but I do not want to reinstall the system on it only because Ubisoft has crooked hands, this is nonsense.

Sorry, but this is sad - in the world of gaming. In many years of gaming this is the first time, that such a big developer and publisher, who says to want make things better than before, is failing in such deplicable manner, to get the game working. How many programmers have worked or are working just now on ACO? Nobody saw this? Nobody? Sorry, but the Ubisoft-pr can tell this there grandparents. Maybe they believe this..

So please stop hiding and tell, when there will be happening something. Today? Tomorrow? Next week? I think that for many people a simple answer to this question would help and besides the nonsense of this situation, a few days of waiting are better that hearing nothing.

Figured I add my launch crash to this thread.

Been working with Ubi since Friday to get it solved but so far nothing has worked (yet?). They basically guide you through the bog standard PC troubleshooting because they are convinced it's YOUR fault not theirs.

My friends say I'm stupid for pre-ordering stuff, especially from Ubisoft, and I'm starting to think they were right.

I bought it saturday in the sore so it's not directly from uplay :/ I already completly deinstalled the game and downloaded it via uplay servers and still got the same prob..

And the E-mail also wasn't answered until now. Since I've wrote it yesterday morning I didn't expect a response yet but...meh I wanna play

I will probably ask for refund and I will buy PS4 just for this game.
It will be cheaper for me than buy mobo, new cpu and ram.
Same on you ubisoft. Really really disappointed.

Wait , they just said about "Poor perfomance on AMD CPU" . Where is something about SSE 4.1? If they dont saw that , we still got problem with this.

Precisely. I'm going to wait for some information until tomorrow 0:00 CET, if they don't give us any reply about this issue I'll ask for a refund. Fortunately I bought the game on steam.

Guys the problem isn't with sse4.1.
The problem is with 4.2
I have core 2 quad q9450 2.66 that supports sse4.1.
So the problem is 4.2

I can't get past the splash screen either and I'm running an i5 4770, so the problem isn't AMD, it isn't SSE41 or SSE42. I can't try running it on my C drive because I'm about 10 gigabytes short.

Maybe this is part of the new Ubisoft costumer-relaxiation program, in which they want to teach us to be satisfied with buying the game. The act of buying should be enough to be proud and happy, because there are more important things in life (there are) than ubisoft games and they want us to learn, how we can live without their products.

Note: This comment inherits jokes please be aware!

I was having all the same splash screen crash problems as everyone else. Tried all the "fixes" to no avail and even got through the Ubisoft ticket reply of "its not our fault, its yours" all the while never being able to load the $70 game I bought.

I give up. I'm getting a refund. I have a PS4 and may get it on that but I'm not sure if I want to anymore after this.

My proc is Phenom II X6 1090T. According to available comparisons on cpuboss and other sites, my proc is better than FX-6350. According to min requirements the processor shall be FX-6350 OR EQUIVALENT. What does "equivalent" mean then? When will the problem with Phenoms be fixed?

Maybe SSE 4.2 is the problem for part of us, i've the same issue with i5 4670k..... but my GPU is an AMD R9 280X....

in the read me of the game the last drivers agreed for ACO was 17.7.2 (AMD) and 385.69 (Nvidia)..... but when I try to launch the game with this release the game didn't launch an with the last one same trouble as you... the game start, but when I load my save the game crash immediatly :(

My issue was that it would start, but freeze on splash screen. I did install the game on an external drive. Last night I moved the game to my C(OS) drive. The game loads and was able to play about an hours worth last night. I have not tried it yet today after I shutdown last night, but will try to play again when I get back. I also did not try to update the intel driver through device manager, but will try that to. Now just waiting for them to allow the game to play on another drive than the OS drive because of course mine is small and to fix the FPS especially on resolutions higher that 1080p.

My Specs:
Intel Core i7-4790K Processor - Quad Core, 4.0GHz
AMD Radeon RX 480 8gb
16 gb ram

AC Syndicate has THE SAME hardware requirements, so all the explanations of Ubisoft's Support is just making idiots from people. If the Syndicate works on the HW, the Origins also must work. I think such a misselling and behavior is forbidden under EU laws on consumer protection.

Something similar happened with Dishonored 2. The thing is this SSE4.1 is just like a "tick" option. Someone in the forums explained it and show how to fix it to the devs.

Well there's now a rumor that Denuvo causes 30-40% increased CPU usage for AC:O. It is also said that they added VMProtect on top of Denuvo.
It wouldn't come as a surprise that actually one of those anti tamper layers actually needs SSE4.2 and newer.
It was strange enough that RE7 would only crash at 2-3 short scenes in the game when it had not been patched yet to work for older CPUs.
It was possible to play those scenes with intel sde and 99% played fine even without it and the patch. I even finished the game on phenom II before the patch was out.

It aligns with my findings. Current exe has 45 uses of instruction CRC32( It calculates checksums using hardware to validate for example if data was changed) from SSE4.2 which shouldn't really be found in video game software but have perfect sense in DRM implementations.

You could get the impression that Ubisoft wants to be hated. Maybe it is a good idea that Vivendi buys Ubisoft, What cizld get worse? If DRM is the reason for this nonsense, than i dont know what to say. That is more than sad and i hope that the media in all countries jumps on it and presses Ubisoft to change this.
