i noticed in a nice little story that csThor made (a beta tester i guess), had the new spit in it. http://www.il2sturmovik.de/fb_warstory_uk.htm

i noticed that the roundels on the wings were off a bit. the roundels on the undersurfaces of the wings are incorrect. they actually look like the fuselage roundel just made bigger. they infact were the same as the fuselage roundels in size but they didnt have the yellow ring arond the outside.
the roundels on the uppersurfaces are correct but hey are too far out on the wing.

I know this all sounds trivial but since the game is not out yet i thought id throw this by u oleg, it seems like a very easy thing to fix. heres what im talking about.

this shows the roundels used on the later mkVIII and mkIX but they are the same ones used on the mkV

I noticed that too. I'm assuming that they are listing the Mark V as a 1942 model (since thats the roundels they are using) but the ones on the bottom are definately not quite right. Minor detail but that'd be nice to have corrected.

outside dia of roundels

Small: 6"(red) 8"(white) 16"(blue) 18"(yellow)

Medium: 12"(red) 16"(white) 32"(blue) 36"(yellow)

Large: 18"(red) 24"(white) 48"(blue) 54"(yellow)

Single seat fighters us med. size roundels

national marking I - red(inner), blue(outer)
national marking II - red(inner), white(middle), blue(outer)
national marking III - red, white, blue, yellow

# I - on upper wing
# II - on lower wing
# III - on fuselage

From AMO A.664/42 to AMO A.1246/43

The upper roundels are too small. It should also be placed with the for/aft CL of the roundel just outside of the the outer MG. It back edge of the roundel should be almost touching the wing-aileron line.

The lower wing roundels should be centered on the centre of the upper roundel.

I eat the red ones last.

and from what ive been seeing the upper wing roundel is placed right behind the outter-most .303mg port, so that it looks like the tape over the 303 is right on the 12 o'clock position of the roundel http://www.il2sturmovik.de/warstory/0005.jpg,
this pic happens to perfectly show where the upper roundel should be placed on the wing, it just that its on on the other side of the wing haha.
right now its set too far out on the wing. se this pic.

The colors do not seem correct.

I noticed that the RAF markings for the P-51, B-17 etc are like this too in v1.22 etc. Somewhat disappointing lapse given the attention to detail that IL-2 is known for and that there is a truckload of info on RAF colour schemes and markings (and none thaty I'm aware of has ever shown markings like this).

I think they need to go USA style and actually put the roundels on the skin when Great Britain is selected in the country box.

Thats probably a good solution to fix the roundel problem.

yeah seafire LIII i just noticed that too.. it is disapointing that they dont have it right yet.

i would really like to know what oleg thinks of this.

they even have the early year british roundels mixed up on the hurries.

i think asking for this to be fixed is very reasonable.

- I think I've read somewhere that it would be '41 Vb but I'm not sure. Let's see what Oleg says & I'm pretty excited about it because I've allready made the DF maps! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source."

It doesn't really matter, all the best skins are by third party 'skinners' anyway. There'll be some heavy traffic at Il2Skins soon after the new expansion is released, and some great skins to look forward to.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its still nice to have the defaults as accurate as possible in terms of color, position, and marking type.

Online I only see default skins since I turn skin downloads off to conserve bandwidth (and alot of servers disable skin download) so that pretty much requires us to have accurate markings for online play to feel as authentic as possible.
