Beautiful sculptures mate.

Tell us more... Do you focus on life studies or do you do anything that could be classed as abstract. (I do like good abstract scuplture)

Cool Is all I can say!

Question though. Is that school well known for this type of course? My Oldest is wrapped up in this stuff and someday will be in the market to look at colleges.

Hey Toad. this school is in my opinion the best university as far as sculpture goes at least in wisconsin. we have a tarific foundry!! there are other good schools in the area. however this is the only university that has a large focus on figureative art. there are several figure drawing classes, where you work directly from a model. the drawing professer we have is outstanding!! his name is LI HU he used to teach at Shanghai university.
there are other schools throughout the country that might be better suited to your child. the key is trying to figure out what type of art do you want to get into, and what style / school of art you are interested. "figurative or realist vrs. abstract" this is the key! it is very hard for a young artist to be at a school that teaches generaly abstract art when that artist is a realist. its best to figure that out first to avoid added tension.
Also if you go to visit schools dont just go on the tours they give you. just walk in someday and nose around. ask students what they think about the school. heck even e-mail professers and graduated students, most schools have a websight that has past student work, find thier names and ask them yourself what they think of the school.
and one more thing and i am sure you know this but being an art student isnt quite like you would expect. its not a bunch of people sitting around in coffe shops wearing dopy hats. for me its ment long nights sometimes several days with no sleep. dealing with harsh deadlines and grueling personal critiques, of work that is very personal to you. there are times when these critiques border on personal insults. and some nights escpecialy after bronze pours i come home smelling like a sour hog!! covered in dirt and sore as heck!! our final exams are different than any others ours tend to start 3 weeks befoer the rest of the schools. right now i am in the midst of finals and the rest of the university hasnt even begun to think about it yet. thats because our exams invol thes critiques, where you put out your work and every one has at it. its like academic Dodgeball. make sure your child know before going in that these are helpful and are designed to thickin your skin. its hard but i wouldnt trade it for anything. Art is beauty for me and I am surrounded by it, its doing something you love so its worth it
thats about all the advice i have right now. e-mail me and ill give you as much info as i can about other schools ive visited, or if you or your child have any other questions feel free to ask id love to help get more people involved in this field. and i have friends at many other schools across the country.
wow long post sorry! Good luck ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Although they look great and show much talent, I must admit that they are modelled incorrectly. These birds were never made of bronze and I bet the wings don't even flap. And how about sound? Do they sound like the real thing or just peep like a generic bird?
