Well...I have AEP in hand. If anyone lives in the vicinity of the Electronics Boutique in Braintree, Ma, USA, I have just purchased their sole copy...but they had two copies of FB Gold. Anyhow, I'm about to install it. I am very much looking forward to the P-51s, and I expect that many folks will want to make their own personalised skin for these planes.
This got me thinking about the names on US planes in WWII. It was actually not simple to just dream up a name for a plane and find one you like. So therefore, on my way over to EB and then on the way back, I was thinking of names. Here then, if you are looking for ideas for aircraft names for your own personalised skin, is a list of some semi-period correct and period correct sounding names:

'fraidy-cat
Joliet Jake
Yankee Clipper
Little Miss Behavin'
Sleepy Joe
Soiux City Biddy
Cloud 9
Camden Cadillac
Merle's Pearl
lil Burro
Heaven Sent
Lights Out
Gastown Gangster
Baby makes Three
Joltin' Jalopy
Iron Horse
Shady O'Grady
Old Splitfoot
Charlestown Representative
Lucky Daye
Risky Frisky 'n' Whisky
times a wastin'
Boxcar Annie
Coughlin's Coffin
Tin Can
lil Stinker
Pop-eyed Poppa
Sweet Caroline

I'm gonna go install AEP now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hey there! Braintree eh? I live on Cape Cod right now but used to often visit the South Shore Plaza on the weekends...do they have an EB in there? I already got mine, but for anyone in that area, they could look there http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was born in the real Braintree and fortunate enough to have lived in the real Ipswich for a couple of years. They're on other side of the Atlantic, and they deeply resent you guys hijacking their good reputations...

Oh, and for those of you in Virginia, Norfolk is the name of a county, and it's not pronounced "Naahfick." This was also a sore point with our British friends, particularly among my contacts in the Royal Navy.

cheers

here's one for you, fiend:
you could name your P-47 "Billy the Mountain" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif or maybe "baby snakes"..."Broken hearts are for..." nevermind, that's a silly name for an aircraft

well, my P-38's named Alexisanah, after the two senior girls who constantly save my life by not letting me walk home. I have to admit, though, it's a bit annoying when they cut me off while I'm walking on the shoulder and leave half of their car blocking traffic with the other half blocking me. I have to get in their cars so they don't get traffic violations!

Lol, You right about that..

"Baby snakes".. Good one for my aircobra

Or maybe; "We're turning again" for a yak..

even, "we are not alone" for a stuka or sturmovik

And wait for it.. Best to keep em all in joe's garage http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif *groan* http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

But I'm sure I know the chorus for Boxcar Annie! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

1989 is the year I bought my Buick. It's a 1970 Skylark Custom convertible. I wrecked it years ago, and rebuilt it as a GS455. I've got a 455 bored to 462, 10:1 pistons, carter AFB (although I am going to swap back to my Q-jet, I think), headers, big pipes, 12 bolt posi, blah blah blah. I'll be replacing the front suspension this year, and I'm not looking forward to it. I've built everything in it with the exception of the tranny and rear end, but I just don't want to work on it (unless it's putting in a new cam and heads), I want to drive it! I can't wait for spring, although I hear gas is going to almost double in price. I'll still save money with it, no car payments http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I bet you can't wait to take out the Poncho! I was just up by your way on Friday to start my car and pay rent.

Very nice! The garage I go to, one of the sons had a 71 GS hardtop with factory Ram Air, 455, Four speed on the floor. He had it for a number of years but finally got married and needed the cash.
But sounds like a great ride you got there. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
