View Full Version : Companions in Far Cry 5 editor. Its now been done in a Far Cry 4 custom map.

With a big help from Steve64b. I was able to make a PC Far Cry 4 custom assault map with AI that fight with you. its not like the rebels in FC 4, but more like the companions that you see in Far Cry 5 video.. It would be cool to have the option to add a boomer, Grace or what ever is a gun or fang for hire from the Far Cry 5 game into the Far Cry 5 map the editor is making. Here is a video with these companions in a Far Cry 4 map.. Also Steve64b would seem to be a great asset to Ubisoft. As he made it possible for me to add the New enemy A.i., A.I. companions and assets to this custom map.

Yess, would love to see 'Follower" AI in the editor. Make it so you and an AI squad can move in and conquer a map, feel less lonely while doing so

This map took a lot of work to get right, also from my modding perspective. Making the custom enemies is a new trick, but I soon discovered the big downside: they can only be used as part of Wave 1 on vanilla games. So, since there's no way to 'funnel' them into separate waves, I had to come up with alternative ways to 'slow them down'.

For this map, we feed the enemies by spawning in ladders as part of the waves. Having underground 'pits' with the custom enemies, they can only get out of their holes through the ladders that spawn during the waves. TheLazyMapper/ImGonaG3tUsucka obfuscated the ladders as best he could, and I must say I don't really notice them much. The ladders count towards the kill limit, so the game will report more enemies to kill than there actually are. But this is just a cosmetic thing, the map will play and end as planned.

Aside from the custom AI, there are some small texture mods done to look like Far Cry 5. For example, the red house, baskets at the church, ladders, church roof, car without Kyrat decal, USA-flag themed assets and watertower floor&flag. Even included a small trashbag. ;P

Its really great what Steve64b was able to do. I wish mappers were able to use these mods on consoles too. It would add something fresh to the editor.

heh if anyone would have some insight into modding console-based content, you know where to find me! However, PC is a much more open platform, so don't hold your breath expecting much to happen on the console side...

Yea, :( those guys on the consoles can't have fun with mods for the time being. I remember for fc pred back on the Xbox 360 that some guys were able to do some crazy moding.
It's alright tho, fc5 is just around the corner :)

Floaters myself and Usel Niding made it, he was really into the modding.

3 of us made that map, Me and Liam started it and Wilky added the space ship and made the underneath area all neat - I added the mods - upwards zipline :)

That above at 23 seconds you walk into a ladder which is speeded up and angled - that acts as a launch pad - you had to land in water or you died on impact.
Also at 1min 19 the ladder was swapped for a tree which launched you into the air.

It looks like the constructs in this map also work on PS4.
