Went online last nite on a early war BOB server.
Looked at teams saw red down so hopped in a Spit and headed towards France. Crossed the coast line and saw a 109 w/ a major alt advantage. He tried to B&Z alittle and after a long fight some hits a both sides he goes head to head and ends up SHOT down. I'm thinking "good fight" and this arse types "Red has to ram to get kills"(he was not rammed I flew home). He b!tches about super turning spits on the plane set he made!!After a small exchange of words I RTB and left his server. Just venting, but come on guys show some class.

Soon enough DF servers will be the ultimate proof that if you fly there you're a noob. Well, let's say rookie...
Fly only coops and maybe scripted servers, reward is bigger.

Well, it's kinda my opinion too. I gave up on DF rooms a long time ago. Death means nothing, no reason no rhyme. Die, respawn, die, respawn, die, respawn . . . . yawn . . . . Coops makes a death meaningful. You die, you are out of the game. It alters you way you fly and fight and also makes team members a little more meaningful.

Also in coops, there is more control over who is flying in the game, at least a good host will be attentive to that.

Hey Zayets, I would love to fly coops, but most have arcade settings, cockpit on, externals, map path. At least some df servers have good settings. But the lack of mission goals is frustrating.

Mike,
I don't understand. If is so hard to find a coop with settings you like , then takeon Virtualpilots r Greatergreen. Or better yet, join a squadron. I agree with you that you can choose a plethora settings among the big number of DF servers but in those servers I have seen the most disgusting behaviour somebody is capable of. DF servers did a good thing to me though , they moved me on the other side , mudmoving that is. I feel no sorrow nowaday when I drop an egg above a taking off jockey or when my 37 cannons blast his cockpit while he starts the engine.

I had a great fight yesterday. Flew the G.50 vs a 109E. We ended up climbing to 6000m as he tried to BZ me. He was good, but I saw easier game below, so I dove down only to have my engine cut out!!! He followed me down and damaged me as I was desperately trying to re start my engine. Finally did, but damage was too great, just as I was comming to a stop after a emer landing, he vulches me. Quite unsporting.

Can't wait!

Blazing Magnums Server will be back up as soon as v2.0 ded server is released

We offer Scripting with objective based maps at Full Switch

We try to be attentive to keep the whinning and bickering to a miniumum in our server.

Come check us out when the ded server v2.0 comes out

S~

{edit - BTW Ramming/Chute Shooting/Vulching are all allowed on our server as it is a objective based scripted server, one less pilot/plane on one side or the other can win the map}

I dont think so. I stay away from most DF servers for that very reason. I can adjust to settings with ni probs..... it's the team killers, lack of real team play, and the whining crybabies who have to make an excuse every time they get shot down that keep me away. Coop or scripted for mew is the best way to go.

Most defineatly.

We have plenty of ground targets to take out.

We used to run our server 24-7 on hyperlobby, but since AEP came out, I have taken it down until the Ded server v2.0 comes out

We run the FBDaemon (Sammie and BadBernie) and most of the time we even have stats http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We have a few map series that it rotates through from Normandy to a pacific map, with some winter, a couple of "italy" map series and even a couple of "bonus" night rounds.

I would like to thank Bearcat for introducing me to Coop when I recently joined the Virtual 99th Redtails. Its more immersive to fly with a mission objective. Even better when you have comms and teammates you are trying to keep alive and keep you alive. I had left FB and HL after trading insults with asshats in DF servers a year ago. DF is fine for jumping in and testing a plane or settings but it is pointless to stay long. Kind of like 'Air Quake'. Where as Coops and Scripted mission are more like 'Battlefield 1942'. Comms and a mission goal with human teammates makes FB online much better. Try online Air Racing too, all those guys are class acts.

Thats the exact reason why I joined a Squad, and started to fly on servers that only ran difficult/full real settings. The general atmosphere is better there because the hard settings weed out a lot of the "k00l d3wDz".

We're doing the same thing at greatergreen as BM's are (waiting for the ded srvr). We've got a few cool things in the works and should be up to speed in a few weeks.

For what its worth, the DF servers turned me off to online flying also. But I have been thinking more and more about campaigns co-ops and scripted servers lately.
Also - for what its worth - Why isn't Bearcat a mod yet - I think he would be a good one.

I enjoy DF servers (especially when there are real teams employing team tactics) and COOP. It's great that hosts provide opportunity for mission objectives but seldom are they collectively followed.

I am really looking forward to the new online campaign option that will facilitate more realistic WW-II play, and foster team tactics and coordination.

While this will be something I suspect the squads will pickup rather quickly (enhancement to coop missions), I believe folks generally speaking will like to participate in this manner as well.

I agree. It was a head on pass and as far as I know no one was rammed.I KNOW there was no intentional ram. If we hit it was just as much his fault as mine if not more. He had the speed I was just trying to get my nose on him.

Agreed! What's really really neat is when you are hot on a bandit and a friendly, vying for the same kill, runs into you and dies and you get credit for the friendly kill...sheesh

Dont worry about it mate.....it is a passing effect. The problem lies partly in that there are many 109huggers out there ( me included) who gets their first taste of the spit.
Against most other planes it is not so problematic with the only exeption =yak3.

The spit has like yak3 mg's and cannon armament.
The problem with theseplanes is that u cant escape them in a 109 on long or short distances, since the mg's will hit on long distances and the two cannons require only few hits on short range.
The spit is almost as fast as the 109 and there is no way in h*ll that a 109 can outturn a spit.= After first pass the 109 tries to get away = a spraying spit on 6 = 109 probably gets a few mg hits = damaged and cant continue fighting.

So the only way is to bounce an unsuspecting spit or get him headon in the first pass. All other scenarios will end up with the spit chasing the 109, even a furballscenario is in the favor of the spit.

Well....what should the 109 crowd do ?
= Same thing as before but be more careful and never alone. If U cant bounce , dont engage = as soon as the spit spots U , or or sees U in an unfavorable situation, get out of the area, fast.
