I have tried nearly all aircrafts and i can not say i truly dislike any of them.

I have now come to the phase where i just want to fly one aircraft to learn to fly perfectly and learn its weaknesses and stronger points.

I have quite precise flying skill but i want one that has good firepower but is also able to turn very quickly.

I am therefor looking for an aircraft that is the best fighter after flying it for a long time.

Please advice me on what aircraft i should be using.

The P-51 is an exceptional piece of machinery. You might try the late 109 models as well.

You're going to get a lot of different advice on that question. Your first three replies included different answers...

I for one, like the 109s because I like the airframe and can fly it fairly well. Others like the 190s. Many like the P-51. My suggestion is to just find an aircraft that you like to fly, and master it. No one here is going to be able to tell you which one you should be flying. It depends on style.

Sorry to give you such a vague and some may say, worthless answer. You might want to ask which aircraft people fly and for what reason. This way, you can get a better understanding of the aircraft and how to fly them.

Hope this helps out some...Good luck.

Red's right. It's all a matter of play style. You said, though, that you wanted a plane that turns well with good firepower. For me, two planes come to mind: The La7, and the Spitfire. I like the Spit for a few reasons. It's a VERY quick turner (Some say too quick), even without the use of flaps. The engine is very easily controlled and you know exactly what you're getting, because the throttle only goes up to 100% and Boost/WEP is controlled manually. The radiator is automatic, so that's one less than you have to worry about in combat, and it's very difficult to overheat. The cockpit has good visibility and the controls are in English (That's helpful for me, anyway http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). There are also lots of different varients to suit your taste. I prefer the "c" armament because it covers all bases. It has the four .303 MG's for quick snap shots to help disable the enemy, and the two 20mm cannons which pack a punch when you're ready to go in for the kill. I love the Spitfire because of it's simplicity and ease of use. The only downfall is it's an awful diver with a relatively low critical speed (Compared to German planes, anyway). That's what I have to say about that, but it's still your decision to make.

Most of the knowledgeable ppl here will say, "It depends..." If...then.

If you like raw firepower and tend to BnZ, then the P-47D or 109K-4 seem like good choices.

If you like TnB, with reasonable firepower, then fly the Mk IXc or e, the or La-7.

For pure twisting, rolling, looping dogfights, try the Zero.

Personally...um...I can't decide.

BnZ means boom and zoom. TnB means turn and burn.

PBNA-Boosher

Well, for you I would suggest an I-153P. The M-62 version is good, and hits hard, but the 2 cannons on the P are much better than the 4 ShKas MG's on the M-62. (The M-62 refers to engine type, I think, though.)

The I-153P definitely has its shortcomings. For one, it's slow, not much faster than a fully laden He-111. It cannot handle negative G's, and the engine will cut out if you starve it of fuel.

However, it makes up for that AND more if you use it properly. As most biplanes do, it has an incredible turn rate. Compared with its power ratio, it is a fearsome weapon. This is quite the Turn n' burn aircraft. The weapons systems are very powerful. I believe they are 2 Shvak cannons. Those 20mm's are destructive as hell, and all you need to do is get nice and close, and you'll blow him apart. Your roll rate is unmatched by any fighter, save probably a 190. This makes you a deadly adversary to any Luftwaffe pilot. It also takes quite an amount of punishment. However, once you have been hit, your performance will decrease steadily.

This aircraft is also one of the most underestimated aircraft in the game. I find it hilarious that pilots don't respect it. I always tell them:

DO NOT JUDGE THE BOOK BY ITS COVER! THE ONE THAT KILLS YOU IN THE END IS THE ONE YOU NEVER EXPECTED TO GET YOU.

and to clear up BnZ and TnB:

BnZ:

The Boom and Zoom tactic. This mostly works with vertical maneuvers, and implies an altitude advantage whenever you can get it. Basically, you see your target below you, and pounce on it, either critically damaging it on the first pass, or killing it. Then you zoom back up into the clouds, and repeat as necessary.

TnB:
The Turn and Burn tactic. While most people only accuse noobs of doing it, the I-153 like I recommended for you above, and several others like the A6M Zero, the I-16, etc... are very good with this tactic. Basically, you start out with a certain energy, or speed, say 320 kph. You keep turning the aircraft in combat, and using your energy as a buffer, try to get behind the other fighters.

For an all out turn fighter any of the bipes, A6M's, Yak-3, Ki-84's, I-16's and Spitfires will do very nicely. All of these planes are exceptionally agile (firepower varies though) but sacrifice speed and armor to attain it. If you want something that is both fast and reasonably agile then the P-51, Ki-84, LaGG/La series and Yak-9 series are probebly your best bets. Bf-109's are the masters of climbing fights however, so if you find yourself doing lots of vertical manuevers then you may want to give the 109K4 a good look too. I suggest you stay away from a plane series that only has 1 or 2 versions. The reason is because many servers are time period restricted and so if your primary ride doesn't have a version in that period then you are basically screwed. If you pick a plane that is represented in all time periods then you will have less trouble adapting to time restricted plane sets. With this in mind I recommend the Spitfire and Yak-9 series. Both are very good turn fighters that are fast enough to be competative against B&Zers. They also have versions availible from the early war period all the way till the end.

Spitfire.

If you want something that has "good firepower but is also able to turn very quickly", then this is a great aircraft.

The Spit IX"c" or "e" would be the easiest of the spits to fight with, simply because you can fly with confidence against most other aircraft in the game. For firepower the two Hispano cannon get the job done very well, they have enough ammo (10+ seconds of fire)and with their high muzzle velocity, they work like lazers. Ofcourse they are backed up by either 4 .303's (IXc) or 2 .50cal (IXe). The IXe's .50's are very effective.

As for handling and performance, the IX is fast, climbs very well and turns well (especially at high speed). It also excells at high altitude and it can turn fight or BnZ, its up to you. Its also a stable gun platform in level flight. One weakness that can be a problem in combat is its rate-of-roll, but if you use full rudder when rolling, it solves this problem to some extent.

If you wan't more of a challenge in combat, the Vb is a good choice as it has difficulty against late war aircraft as it lacks their speed and power. It also has around half the cannon amunition of the IX with only six seconds of fire.

Despite its slower speed and power, it is a great turnfighter and handles better than IX in turn-rate and rate-of-roll. Personally I find that its more pleasant to fly than the IX as it feels lighter on the controls and safer when pushing its flight envelope.

Try other aircraft out, but I highly recommend the Spitfire.

I'm torn between the P-47D-27 and SpitfireIXe

2 Hispanos, or 8 .50 cal.. its a hard choice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif but both of them work very well..

The pin point precision of the 8. 50cal as they tear through the 109, lovely stuff... but also its nice sometimes to just go blow big frickin chunks off em with the Spitfire's cannons...
at the end of the day though, all guns kill

The spits and Jugs I believe are the best fighters in their class (tnb vs. bnz) currently.

Give the following planes a go:
FW190 (I prefer Anton (Aseries) but D is just as good). Lots of firepower + ammo and quite versatile (Can be used as a fighter/interceptor/ground attack plane, you name it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )
I-16: Extremely agile little plane that packs quite a punch. Excellent for TnB, a bit slow though. If handled correctly can be VERY effective.

Agreed, but Bf109 can be forgiving compared to some other planes. Hurricane MkIIc can be more appropriate for beginner because of flight characteristics (and Hispanos can shred anything http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif), but it will take one ace to beat late war planes.

I'm currently really enjoying the Brewster B-239. It's reasonably nippy, rolls faster than Beethoven at a Beatles concert, turns really well (not nearly as well as a Zero, but impressive nontheless) and the weapons are pretty effective, too. It also doesn't lose it totally if you're yanking it about the sky and stall a wing, and if you do go into a spin, it recovers well. On the down side, once you've used up all your altitude, you might as well go home. Give it a go if you haven't already.

For later war-birds I like the Spit IXs, and the Bf-109 G6. I love the way you can flip the Spits into a spin and recover just like that. The 109's grunt, armament and toughness make it really impressive.

Ditto on the Brewster... also makes a good spiritual match for the i-16... makes for a good, fairly even dogfight. brewster has less firepower than i-16, but brewster can take -ve G... useful tactic to spoil a grav fed planes aim... just push forward. you might be able to take him out by killing his engine, or he'll have to roll over to hit you... by which time your pulling up again!

Mostly fly 190s or 109G2 with 20mm gunpods. So, 20mms.

mk108 is good except against P63.

Hispanos are deadly, too...if a little 'inconsistent'

Really, IMO, it depends. If i feel like Im going to "shoot and shred" some enemies, I'll pick "noobs" Ki84c (2x30mm + 2x20mm, anyone?).

If I feel like I wanna "dance" in the sky, it will be Spitfire mk IXe (gotta love those .50 cals).

Want to enjoy the view? Gimme Fiat biplane.

Then the Mustang when I feel like I want to get up high above ground and conquer (pardon the expression... that's just the way I feel http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

As for the luftwaffe gears, I prefer Dora, though if I can choose, I'll tell the ground crews to replace 2 20mm cannons with 2 mk108. What a blast... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

This is one thing you got to love most in IL2: The ability to fly any plane that suits your mood and personality, not to mention your fighting style. If Im not mistaken, there are around 30 flyable planes (variants not included). Hmmm....

These two 30 mm are as effective as MK108 but carry more ammo.
The two 20 mm are also as good as any 20 mm (UB, ShVAK, Hispano or MG151/20).
And the aircraft itself is nimble, fast and reasonably tough.

I don't like to call planes newb planes, but it's definatly a great start for someone getting into dogfighting. What you need is a hurri m.k.IIc. Now therers a plane!

Almost everyone will be able to out-turn you.
Everyone will be able to out climb and out dive you, however once they get in front of those 4 hispons they're going down http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

I just love to blow-apart those 109/190 in MP. Great feeling!

The down side is that you realy have to work for your kills('cos of the things mentioned above) the ammo load is relativly small and that they are rather rare on the servers I play.

Thers somthing about the way the sight is placed (very high above the engine) that makes deflection shoots easier. And there is the recoil (the lack of the same, to be more precise) that allowes very smooth shooting.

btw. I cant hit sh*t in the russian planes (especialy the La-7)
