Can any of you music/computer junkies recommend a good portable music player?

I have been looking at the creative nomad and the apple ipod. There are a bewildering array of options out there.

I'd like something $300 or under, able to play mp3's I have downloaded from kazaa as well as music from my cd collection, a decent battery charge, decent sound, and most importantly- easy to use with a simple computer/transfer interface. The ability to act as a hard drive and transfer files would be an added bonus.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Huggy

There are a number of cheap CD players which can handle CD mp3's for under 30. ($50.). The money you save can be put to better use once the technology matures a little and become much cheaper and more useful,

kind regards

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/351.gif or pick up a secondhand NET MD unit (or one of the new Hi MD things http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif)and do it that way - i.e. convert your mp3s/CDs to the ATRAC format.... I do it this way with a sony 707, works like a charm. If you have a decent set of headphones the quality is good too!
