The IL2 is the best of the very best in flight sims. The cheating that goes on is take the fun out ot it. Was is it allow? How can it be stoped and when. At this point I thinking of removing it from my hard drive and going on to something else. Any ideas? I'm Pissed

If servers are set up right its hard to cheat. Heres how http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=558108783

Lag is always going to be on the internet.

'Cheating has been detected ' is nothing more than a VERY poorly worded indication of lag. You can change it yourself so that it reads 'All these shiny things are mine' or whatever takes your fancy.

Cheers!

There's probably less cheating in this game than any other online game in the world ever.

He might be referring to what just was happening on Greatergreen.
Something I have never seen before: someone (Willfreud or something was his tagline) was using a Me163 on the red side, in a limited plane set from 1940.
Next map, different limited set of 1943 and there he was again in a 163 - and opening bragging about how to do it.

Yeah, but did you see his stats?

344 rounds fired. Only ten of which actuall hit another aircraft. Killed four times. Looks like he may have even rammed Horus, cuz they both died at the exact same time.

So he may have been cheating, but it certainly didn't HELP him any!

I think you missed the point... he didn't came to make points, he took the most improbable plane to brag about "what a mighty hacker" he was.

And in the future, you'll probably see many more such braggarts, coming in games only to spoil them, to show you their "mightyness"...

Hoarmurath, I know, I know. I just thought I'd seize the opportunity to belittle a cheater. (And maybe hammer home the point that people cheat because they can't win when the terms are equal.)

The stats also illustrate the validity of old fighter pilot maxim: It's the pilot; not the plane. (Of course, that has nothing to do with this thread, so I'll stop immediately, before someone really flames me! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Hoarmurath;

I hope not...Cheating is like armor...the more they develop armor to be resistant to attack, the more they develop ATGMs to defeat the armor. People will always try to figure out ways around the system.

Look at Diablo II. Now, I have no problem using cheat codes or whatever for my own personal games, but I would never use them for an online game. Just no fun. But apparently, there are a LOT of people who like doing it...mostly for the sake of being able to do it, not about beating others. But Blizzard is always trying to stop hackers from getting on and screwing up BattleNet. It's a constant game of cat and mouse.

So, you're probably right. We'll be seeing more of these "hackers."

unfortunately my stats look about the same...oh well. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Maybe we'll have to more aware of such types to ensure they are quickly kicked/squashed/banned from HL, etc

This has happened before in GG. I think it was about a year ago, maybe a little less, a guy did the same thing. He was a real jerk! Sammie said he was going to take care of it and he never came back. Trouble was the server was down for a little while afterwards and the stats were down for a long time (at least that's the way I remember it). Wonder if this is the same guy?

Back in the old IL2 days (Original) Uberdeamon (I thinkit was) Had a nifty little program to fly AI planes. Well i guess it is now possible to do the same with flyable. So is it a hack Yes but one thats been used lots of times in the old days.

Now the only thing that this program was used for was to test the flight models of AI planes to make sure they could fly.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Anyone know of a hack to over-ride server settings and turn wonderwoman view on? I think someone is using this.

I had a guy tell me that some fellas in a server were making late war planes fly in early war servers, he said they were telling everyone in the server how to do it. He didn't know and asked if I did, I don't but if i run into him again I'll see if he found out how and let you know.

Hate to see this happening. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

It is a tool that was given to developers. It allows one to fly any of the AI regardless of the server settings. I'd imagine it is not limited to just AI. The person mentioned here used to abuse my server regularily by selecting all these obscure AI craft though I asked him to stop (some of those AI models use a lot of RAM). I eventually banned his IP and have not seen him since. This was long before AEP, and even before FB if I remember correctly.

Personally, I think IL2 is a very cheat-free game. Oleg and Co. have done a very good job securing possible cheating avenues, and their efforts have preserved the '99% majority of good gamers' participating in this multiplayer community. I too have seen this in the past. I too banned him Slammin. People like this really don't need a warning. They know what they're doing. It disrupts the game, and I think they get-off on that. That's just my hypothesis anyway...

Sammie

Yes... I remember Diablo II... excellent game. One of the best ever in my opinion. Still get messed up by hackers and other cheaters, 'cause u can get powerfull equipment with some hacking programs. That programs itself pose no threat to the game itself, but good folks with rather big frustrations pose great threat. They use it to be better then other people, which they cannot be witout it. Sadly... I've known these people. Even my best friend was cheating when we play against each other. He seems to enjoy himself. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
There's no real satisfaction in cheating, and I don't wanna to see this beautiful game go down because of some inresponsible people.(yes, probably out-ther existing a genious folks who can do some hack programs to enable cheating in IL-2---they've used to do before).

Look friend, you have every right to be furious about it, but do not uninstall the game. Just play offline or change server. Game is just too good to give it up so easily. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
