I started flying full real more often, but I`m having problems finding someone to fight. I can zig-zag across a map without seeing anyone when I know there are as many as 14 a/c out there. When I finally encounter someone, i am taken by surprise and get shot down without even seeing them.
Can anyone help as I am getting bored flying around on my own.

Take your plane really, really high, then look for the targets. By the time you're at 5000 meters, spotting things shouldn't be too hard. Then all you have to do is come down on them like a wild beast! A P-47, Fw-190, etc... should do the trick! And, the best part is, the P-47's got a nice zoom climb, so when you finish off your target after that first pass, you can zoom climb right back up to height to do it all over again!

Ok,

This is how to have fun on a full real server:

I have gone through tanks of gas and lots of time flying around at high alt with no contacts, not much fun unless you are into the sightseeing aspect.

One alternative is to get into ground attack. Get into a server that is historically realistic, this means one that you can attack the enemies airbase, strafe the $hit out of it and shoot a bunch of them taking off and landing, shoot out the aaa and own their base. There are a number of these servers where they don;t cry like women about ground attack. Aviar's No-HOnor-Server, VFC HOST, when he does host, 609IAP......

In the course of ground attack, you will get into all kinds of dogfighting too.

Hang out where there are friendly aaa installations around 5k alt. When you see them flashing dive to a spot a half a kilo away and cruise through at 700khr on the deck. You will be able to see where the aaa is shooting and with your speed zoom up and get them.

The alt game does take a lot of time as it did in WWII. IN AEP Someone gets bounced flying along at 5k. So next trip they go to 6 or seven K alt. before long everyone in the server is playing Gary Powers spending all the time off in some corner getting to alt before they fly aroun d for an hour with their thumb in their A$$. When this start happening it is time to get down and dirty and hit their base a few times. This will bring the server down to earth.

YOu really have to try out No-Honor_Server on Hyperlobby if you want merciless killing, the only rule on the server is no whining. Have Fun!

Look at the map carefully in the briefing. When you take off note your heading and check your map often to keep landmarks in sight. I still have problems and it is one of the things I dont like about FR servers but I still try them out anyway. I prefer a FR server but with minimap path on.. at least that way I can know where I am. I can lokk for dots OK and i dont mind getting bounced but I hate getting lost and in a lot of FR servers people just dont take the time to say "The action is in XX sector.."

Much better idea, ignore the enemy bases (you vulcher) and read the briefings. Most scripted dogfight servers have ground targets that must be destroyed or protected. Go to the designated grid and DO YOUR JOB!!! It would really help if people would support their roles according to the briefings. There's nothing worse (short of kill stealing) when I'm heading out on a solo jabo mission and my whole team is chasing some lone smoking enemy over our base when I'm getting bounced a grid short of the target zone hugging the trees.

Did anyone see that or was it just me?

i have a much more shorter and simple suggestion, stop flying full real and have some action in your life http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif

There are some servers that offer what I think might be a better online experience for you. I flew in the Pacific 1941-43 server the other day. Great settings. Locked cockpit with externals, no map icons and some really nicely limited friendly and enenmy icon settings. It had ships and other ground targets and a great planeset. I was there for a couple of hours of what could be considered the best online action I have had with FB. The designer setup things nice to promote teamwork and good action.

The Devil made me do it!
